Ethereal Desert Elopement Inspiration

Great Sand Dunes, graceful calligraphy, and watercolor accents are just a few of my favorite things. And this ethereal desert inspiration? Well, it’s filled with all of them. From amethyst, to unfinished wood, to Flora By Nora accented with stunning silk ribbon, every detail is organic and lovely. Connie Whitlock was behind the scenes snapping up every purple and amethyst hue here!

From Connie WhitlockWe took the inspiration for this shoot from the location, the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa, Colorado. We were inspired by the simplistic beauty, and the raw, natural elements of the park. We chose natural elements like amethyst, unfinished wood, bone (for the silverware), linen, and the silk ribbon. We carried the theme throughout all of the design elements. The stunning and organic feel of the floral design by Flora by Nora included geodes in the bouquet and centerpiece, and amethyst pieces tied into the flowing ribbon that was wrapped around the bouquet. We kept the hair style subtle with a tousled look and the makeup neutral yet stunning by highlighting the eyebrows, keeping the lip and blush in neutral tones with a golden bronze pop of color for the eyeshadow. The invitation suite had torn edges with graceful calligraphy and watercolor accents in deep purple and amethyst hues. The beautiful cake had a simple base layer with accents of purple and bronze. We chose a loose fitting, minimally structured dress with tons of movement. We drove a total of 8 hours to get to the sand dunes and back but it was completely worth it and I loved having the chance to work with some amazing vendors!
