While I’ll never turn down bright and cheerful, there’s something about moody scenes that appeal to me. I like a little mystery, a little drama, and so I’ve settled right into this shoot from Amanda Nippoldt. Inspired by the vintage romance of Downton Abbey, it drew me in right from the start with the gorgeous gowns from a&bé bridal. Pour yourself a glass of cabernet and see all the details right here.
From Amanda Nippoldt… The inspiration for this shoot was centered around romantic and vintage elements in a more natural environment. The color palette for this shoot features muted tones of whites, creams, blushes, and blues, with only a small pop of deep cabernet red. With a nod to Downton Abbey, we pulled inspiration from the early 1900’s to give the perfect amount of drama, style, and elegance to the casual, north woods setting. The goal was to evoke more of a “deconstructed Downton Abbey” feel so touches of whimsy and softness were added in throughout the design. The entire scene was meant to feel a bit moody, so a crisp November day at the Interstate Park in St Croix Falls, Wisconsin, was an ideal setting with its bare trees and overcast sky.
Hair and make-up by Julie Swenson was more natural and loose as well as the stunning bridal selections including low backs, lace detailing, and dramatic veils from Rue de Seine of A and Be Bridal. Floral was designed by Maven to be more wild and carefree and included more organic elements that you wouldn’t have typically seen in the 1920’s era – twiggy headpieces, wild greens, and vines weaving their way up candlesticks definitely stole the show.
Vintage rentals from On Solid Ground brought the deconstructed look to the next level with tarnished brass candlestick holders, faded upholstery, and chippy tables and chairs. Elegant fabrics from Silk & Willow as well as gorgeous ribbons and paper from Emily Bailey tied everything together beautifully.
