Elegant Coastal Wedding at Half Moon Bay
Here in New England we've endured week after week of blizzard-like conditions, so to say this warm, coastal beauty is a breath of fresh air? Well, that's the understatement of the century. Drenched in softest hues of blue, gold, peach and plum, it's a lesson taking black tie formal to an oceanside setting and A Savvy Event was behind every last bit. See the day captured by Jessica Burke and Swoon Films below!
From The Bride...As soon as Andrew and I got engaged, we knew that family was going to be the most important element of our wedding. We have family in all corners of the country, and we wanted a destination wedding weekend that would bring everyone together. Living in northern California, we had many beautiful and fun places to choose from. Ironically, the first place we looked was the Oceano Hotel & Spa in Half Moon Bay. It being the first place we saw, we told ourselves we had to keep looking, but we always came back to how perfect it was. Eventually, we decided it was the one, and everything fell into place from there.
One of the reason we selected the Oceano was for its beautiful outdoor setting. We decided that we wanted to work with the look and feel of the hotel and Half Moon Bay, and a foggy, ocean, nature theme emerged. The romantic ocean feel was carried into my dress and the bridesmaids gowns. It was important to us to have a formal wedding, so the grooms wore tuxedos, and we requested formal attire of our guests.
Another major reason we selected the Oceano was for how much it had to offer us. We focused on using as much that the Oceano, and Nancy, their event coordinator, had to offer us and worked with our planner Jill to find outside vendors for the rest. The Oceano has a beautiful permanent outdoor tent, as well as tables and gold chivari chairs, plate ware and glassware. Not having to rent everything really helped us keep our costs down. We coordinated simple neutral linens with our florist Amy Burke, and came up with a lovely palette of white neutrals, gold, light ocean blues, and greens, with pops of peach and plum.
Half Moon Bay was the perfect location for our wedding weekend. Its close proximity to San Francisco offered easy travel for our out of town guests and also made sure that there were plenty of attractions to visit.
Our wedding day was an absolutely beautiful and amazing event. Andrew and I got exactly what we had dreamed of, a day where all of our families came together to celebrate our love and marriage.
