With Valentine’s just mere days away, sharing the prettiest pink-filled wedding only felt fitting. Planned with love by Chic To Chic Weddings and bursting with bloomage crafted by Petal Florals, it’s everything a classic, feminine bride could want and the gallery from Honey Honey Photography – complete with an appearance by the couple’s darling Yorkie – is sooo worth a sweet, long look.
From The Bride…Don and I met through a mutual friend in 2011, he started texting me right away since the first day we met. From the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep, we would text all day long without missing a single day until our first date couple of months later. We knew from the beginning that this was forever and it didn’t take long before Don decided to propose at home.
We wanted an outdoor wedding and that was an absolute must. Luckily we live in Southern California where the weather was warm enough for an outdoor ceremony and reception in November. We wanted everything to be pretty in pink and gold. We also wanted everything to be vintage and elegant and the Mansion as the backdrop was perfect for it. As were the vintage rentals from Etablir, every piece was so perfect for our wedding and our style. They had the most gorgeous gold vintage mirrors and we filled our reception with their gold mirrors and candelabras. We wanted it to feel like a romantic fairytale with lots of candles and bistro lighting.
We searched high and low for the perfect venue, we knew Muckenthaler was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and reception areas. The mansion itself reminded us of Hearst Castle, which we visited on our first road trip together, except that Muckenthaler was right in our neighborhood. The grounds were so romantic and gorgeous that we felt we had to have our wedding here. It also helped that they have exclusive catering and rentals that handle everything and makes the whole process a lot easier on the brides.
We wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet. We had my brother serve as the officiant and my niece as the flower girl. We didn’t have a ring bearer so we dressed up our 3-year old yorkie in a tux and had Don’s brother who was a groomsmen, carry him down the aisle. Our mothers were dressed in traditional Korean dresses and each carried a small rose bouquet as they walked down the aisle. We wrote our own vows and decided to not to have any other traditions or ceremony as we felt that our vows were all we needed. After we were announced as Mr. and Mrs., our guests tossed petals from our DIY toss bags that read “I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that”
Centia, our florist decorated all our floral arrangements with beautiful garden roses and hydrangeas. I really wanted peonies but since our wedding was in November they were harder to find and more expensive, still she managed to find some to put in my bouquet and I couldn’t be more grateful. We wanted our flowers to be pink and white with pops of color on the pink. During the cocktail hour we had a rose wall taped to the walls with gold glittered washi tapes and had Etablir’s white and gold lounge seats where we placed our photo album from our engagement shoot we took in Korea. Guests were able to enjoy our photo album and took more photos of themselves in the lounge area than the Photo Booth itself.
For the reception, I knew I wanted something different from a candy/dessert station. Since our wedding was in November and outdoors, we decided to have a hot chocolate bar. We also wanted to have donuts to go along with the hot chocolate, as it is our favorite and we have been on so many donut runs throughout the years. Etablir managed to find us shelves to set up our hot chocolate/donut bar and painted them in gold to match our colors. Our florist arranged flowers to go on top of the shelves that surrounded the words “baby it’s cold outside” that Don had stenciled out of foam boards. We wanted an intimate and romantic setting for the reception and the outdoor lawn was more than perfect for the amount of guests we had. We played a lot of Michael Buble during dinner and some old school hip hop for open dancing, although most of the guests were busy at the open bar to be dancing. The evening turned out to be magical, romantic, fairytale, elegant all mixed into one beautiful night spent with our closest family and friends. Don and I could not be happier to start our life with a beautiful day.
We wanted the cake to be classic and simple but also wanted it to have gold and pink to incorporate our wedding colors. We ended up decorating the top and second tier with gold and white ribbons and the second tier to be all pink. It saved us a ton of money and didn’t look overdone with the pink or gold.
Both gowns were custom designed by Kara Bridal, so were the veil, jewelry all were from Kara. I knew I wanted two different styles for the ceremony and reception, and while I only got to wear the first gown during our short ceremony, most of the pictures were taken in it that I felt like I had it on the whole day! The second dress was more slimming and easier to get around all the tables during the reception. Shoes were Manolo Blahnik!
