Bursting with Bows And Arrows blooms, this desert inspo is a welcomed winter escape. Marfa is highly ranked on my Bucket List and NBarrett Photography has only increased my wanderlust. A culture of talented artists (with a penchant for the mystic) adds to the the dynamic flair, and that Cakewalk Bake Shop confection is designed so deliciously that I’ll be coming back for more here!

From Emily Allen of Cakewalk Bake Shop… The current artisan trend that is championing ceramics, weaving, leather craft and woodworking speaks to the very undercurrent that makes Marfa so fascinating and dynamic – the strong culture of talented makers and artists with a flair for the mystic. We used this as our direct inspiration, with a focus on intimacy, artisanal craft, and the raw, earthy materials employed beautifully throughout town structures – quartz fencing, handmade leather furniture, adobe homes. We married the marbling motif, used in the floral vessels, the calligraphy suite, and the cake, with a terra-cotta palette to create an interesting juxtaposition that’s at the core clean and artful, but also warm and earthy. The focus on raw materials honor the breathtaking landscape that is the truly what draws us all to Marfa and by designing with neutrals, it makes the breathtaking skies and rugged landscape that much more vibrant, allowing for gorgeous, iconic images of a couple in love in the middle of a mystical desert.
