Real life isn’t perfect, things don’t always go as planned. But this shoot, captured by Graham Terhune, took lemons and made pitchers of lemonade. When bad weather hit, this shoot had to be rescheduled and squeezed in before flights departed from New Orleans, but with the talents of Sapphire Events, Wildflower Linens and Kim Starr Wise, the finished product is nothing but extraordinary. May these gorgeous pics be an example of never letting a little rain ruin the promise of pretty.
From Sapphire Events… The Anchored in Love photo shoot is a collection of images that we hope tells the story of a North Carolina girl who fell in love with a New Orleans gent. Their love story is simple and sweet, and their wedding is about their steadfast commitment to one another. On the day of the styled shoot, the sun was shining and the sky was clear until it was time to begin the photographs. At the exact moment we planned to begin shooting, the rain began to pour along with thunder and lightening. Although we were completely devastated (because we were scheduled to fly home from New Orleans the next morning) our team looked at one another and decided to make the best of our situation. We were able to take the portraits of our bride and groom along with the bridal party despite the spurts of sideways rain and we were able to schedule a reshoot of the details the next morning before our 10:30 am flight out of NOLA. As we drove to the airport, completely exhausted and slightly heartbroken, we couldn’t help but think of the beauty of our theme that enveloped our crazy circumstances. We were able to rearrange a few details in order to photograph the beautiful details created by Valerie; however, on actual wedding days, these arrangements are not to be altered. As we reflected on this during our drive to the airport we thought of the importance of anchors and how strong anchors are what make durable marriages. While the beauty that surrounds southern weddings is what we often think of their defining characteristic, during our photo shoot we realized that the beauty of southern weddings lies within the family traditions, the authentic details, the loyalty of friendships and most importantly the rock of solid relationships. Wedding days are beautiful and they mark the first day of the most important journey we embark on in this life and we are grateful for the reminder that it is the anchor of genuine love that holds us all together – rain or shine.
