Rustic Fall Wedding at Silos Estate
This wedding was really fun, you can just tell. From the giant Jenga blocks and Polaroid backdrop, to the letters on the lawn spelling out this adorable couple's feelings for each other, this celebration was bursting with picture perfect moments. Gemma Clarke captured them all and despite stormy skies, this gallery, and these guests, had one fun-filled moment after another.
From The Bride... To us, our wedding day was perfect. We enjoyed every single aspect. I would describe the day as romantic, fun, intimate and beautiful. As I’m an Executive Assistant, I had planned and organised most details myself (and loved every minute of it!), so on the day I knew I had done all I could, so I was very relaxed and extremely happy. Knowing the day had finally come, I could not wait to get married and celebrate with our loved ones.
My vision for the day was for an elegant, romantic wedding with rustic touches. A vineyard estate at picturesque Berry towards the NSW south coast fulfilled all of these elements. By adding some wooden details, lace, hessian and soft pastel colours, our theme was complete. Ultimately, we wanted our family and friends to experience a laidback, relaxed, fun and happy wedding where they felt comfortable and special. Having the ceremony and reception at the one site (amazingly beautiful Silos Estate) allowed for guests to let their hair down and enjoy a mini weekend away.
I wore a wedding dress by Maggie Sottero. I found a picture of the dress online and just had to see it in person. As soon as I tried it on I was sold – it was the first and only wedding boutique my mum & I went to. I loved the beautiful lace overlay, slim fit and open heart backing with buttons down the lower back. I added a jeweled belt for some sparkle, along with a stunning beaded hair piece and wore simple pearl drop earrings and a diamond bracelet that Steve gave me on my 21st birthday.
The ceremony was held in the beautiful manicured garden of the property overlooking the vineyards. Giant LOVE letters decorated the space, along with the handmade picket fence directional signs and giant wooden Polaroid frame which gave guests unique photo opportunities.
As the ceremony started we could see lightning in the background, it was quite amazing. The rain held off for the ceremony but decided to make an appearance for half an hour and then let the sun stream through the clouds in the late afternoon; it had a real magical feel to it!
Lawn games including the handmade ‘human sized’ Jenga entertained guests during the cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception.
The reception was held under a purpose built marquee that had a stunning view of the surrounding vineyards which only got better as the sunset with a rainbow in the distance. The wooden floors, and handmade elements including the chalkboard easel, treasure chest, seating plan and wooden table numbers added a rustic vibe.
Romance exuded by the many tea light candles in jars covered with lace, flowers in mismatched vases and bottles, fairy lights strung from beams and two gorgeous chandeliers; all of which created a warm, inviting ambiance, while the simple framed messages dedicated to our parents added a heart-warming personal touch. At the end of the night, after all the dancing (including some awesome break-dancing ‘battles’) our guests had fun with sparklers and made an arch to farewell us.
My favourite part of the day was exchanging the rings during the ceremony. Because of the mild humidity I couldn’t fit Steve’s ring on his finger. We both burst out laughing as I struggled and over emphasized finally getting the ring over his knuckle. It was definitely a light hearted moment that broke some of the nervous energy we both had at the beginning of the ceremony.
Another truly memorable moment that I will never forget was just before I walked down the aisle with my dad. Seeing my future husband waiting for me in front of all of the people who mean the world to us and whom we love so dearly, especially Steve’s 90 year old grandma who flew from Melbourne, made me feel so special. We felt so blessed that these people came to share our day and celebrate our love.
Overall, I wouldn’t have changed a single thing about our day (even the brief storm!). More than anything we wanted our guests to have a good time, and as clichéd as it sounds, it was the best day of my life. I’m so lucky and grateful to now be Mrs Owen.
