From Erica at Estera EventsEmily and Shawn’s wedding was anything but ordinary. There’s something to be said when a couple picks the historic and adventurous grounds of Camp Wandawega to celebrate their vows!

Camp Wandawega is a camp tucked away in the woods of Wisconsin overlooking Lake Wandawega. Vintage inspired and completely filled with unique touches around every turn, any guest reverts immediately back to their childhood. From the rope swing over the lake to the enormous tree house, how could you not!? Like Emily and Shawn, this unique venue epitomizes natural beauty. Serene, elegant and rustic elements assembled together creating the perfect Saturday afternoon ceremony.

The small wooden outdoor chapel was nestled in a romantic forest of tress. After the ceremony, guests explored the camp and its many activities. Who knew cocktail hour could include archery and canoeing? Following the festivities, guests were led to a glistening tent filled with antlers, white hydrangeas, pink ranunculus and hypericuim berries. After the rustic family style dinner, guests danced the night away. The night ended with a larger than life bonfire while guests enjoyed smores.

From Clark Creative PhotographyCamp Wandawega is a photographers dream. This rustic, lake side camp provides a unique backdrop to tell the perfect story. But the story can’t begin without the couple. Emily and Shawn met roughly 6 years ago at work and haven’t looked back. Their lives changed a lot this past year… as if planning a wedding isn’t enough, they were also preparing for a move from Chicago to Seattle for Shawn to begin work at Google. A wedding, a St. Lucia honeymoon and a cross country road trip with their golden retriever, Ozzie, made for a pretty exciting 2014.

Emily got ready near the camp at the bed and breakfast, Ye Olde Manor. A perfect little getaway on it’s own, it provided a relaxing atmosphere for the girls to get ready while the guys shot archery back at the camp. While rain was in the forecast throughout the day it held off and allowed for a beautiful ceremony at the camp’s outdoor chapel. Guests were then free to explore the camp while enjoying cocktails and playing yard games. The rain would only hold off for so long, however, and we were hit with quite the storm later that evening. Approximately 5 minutes after lighting the bon-fire it began to downpour, blowing the logs in the fire over. Luckily, Camp Wandawega has an old firetruck on hand as they quickly extinguished the flames to the cheers of everyone dancing in the tent. As the rain kept coming down it began flooding the tent, prompting the DJ to move his equipment inward but that didn’t stop the party.

We had such a great time not only capturing the day for Emily and Shawn but celebrating with them. You can tell a lot about people from the speeches that are given on the most important day in their lives by the most important people in their lives. Believe me, Emily and Shawn are a special couple.
