Surprise Proposal: He Said Yes
If this couple looks familiar to you, it's because you probably fell head over heels in love with them and their South African rehearsal dinner and wedding (which were both proudly featured on the pages of SMP). Well that love is just going to get deeper. Brace yourself, and prepare to cry in the best possible way (I still have tears running down my cheeks as I type). Because this proposal video from Vincent + Theo Studios? This is what it's all about, folks.

From Ruby Yeh...This past spring, I was fortunate enough to be part of an incredibly heart-warming and unique moment: my friend Vicky proposed to her boyfriend of 8 years. A special events planner and proposal ninja, Vicky used her creativity to ask her boyfriend, Jon, to marry her.
Two years ago, Jon had proposed to her, but at the time, she didn't feel quite ready for marriage. This year, when she was ready, she decided that she should be the one to do the asking. During a trip to Vancouver to visit Jon's family, Vicky popped the question.
After spending a night in Seattle at a friend's wedding, Vicky and Jon drove up to Vancouver to spend some time with his parents. Little did Jon know, the place where many of his favorite childhood memories took place -- his elementary school -- would also be the place he would get engaged. Family and friends from all over the country flew in for this incredible surprise. A few of the adorable boys from the school even joined in on the plan. After a morning of distractions from Jon's dad, Jon was led to the school under the pretense that he was there for a Mothers’ Day event. But once he saw Vicky waiting for him under the arches of the school entrance, he realized something special was about to happen.
We lined up along the pews of the school chapel when Vicky appeared with Jon blindfolded. The music was cued, and Jon opened his eyes and walked down a personalized “memory lane”: Vicky had created posters for each milestone of their relationship, from the first time he serenaded her (Area Codes by Ludacris was the song of choice), to the day she asked for his parents’ blessing. At the end of the aisle, Vicky popped the question – only to have Jon say, “No”. He instead got down on one knee and insisted that he be the one to ask her. Jon’s father stepped forward with the ring Jon had chosen two years ago for Vicky, and proposed.
The couple has since married in South Africa (wedding here and rehearsal dinner here), where Vicky grew up. They live in NYC where Vicky is a special events planner at A Modest Proposal and Dinner Bandits.
