This wedding put me in a really great mood. From the colorful decor to the adorable couple, I would have loved to have been a guest at this fun celebration. With a team that included Pure Joy Catering, La Tavola, and Hint of Chic mastering the design and florals, you are practically guaranteed a success. Ashleigh Taylor captured every bright smile and I’d bet this gallery guarantees a good time as well.
From Ashleigh Taylor Photography… I am super excited to share this adorable and modern DIY wedding with you, which took place in Santa Barbara, CA! This wedding screams cheer and fun! The bride and groom smiled from ear to ear all day and not even a heat wave could bring their energy down! The bride and her mom lovingly made so many details including popper party favors, an amazing backdrop for the photobooth, signage, escort card display and more! There were gorgeous florals designed by Hint of Chic! This wedding was full of bright colors (pink, coral and orange) and sparkle, and confetti!
From The Bride… When Greg and I envisioned our wedding, all we wanted was for everyone to have fun and we wanted a lot of handmade, personal details, to make the day even more special for us and, of course, for our guests.
I’ve always been crafty and I love to plan parties, so I was excited to put my DIY skills to good use. My mom, stepdad, Greg, and I created a number of personal touches for the big day, which included a custom photobooth background (complete with streamers my mom sewed), an escort card display built from an antique frame, party crackers that went atop each place setting, and personalized menus (which doubled as placecards). My stepdad and stepbrother even built our chuppah!
Most details had special significance – for example, our three wedding cake flavors were Turkish Coffee (in honor of our honeymoon in Turkey), Mayan Chocolate (a tribute to our engagement in Belize) and Berry Cheesecake (Greg’s favorite dessert). We honored Greg’s grandpa by having his tallit adorn our chuppah and my grandpa by having his old typewriter hold our “sign our guestbook” sign on our welcome table.
We also brought in a number of our own items: all of the cake trays and stands (some vintage) are our own, as well as the vintage milkglass used for the centerpieces. The most stress-free part of the wedding was getting ready – Greg and I opted not to have a bridal party (so our nearest and dearest could sleep in and not have to “work” at the wedding). We did a quick first look at home, in our bedroom, actually, and then got to take some photos with our puppy, a toy Australian Shepherd named Peyton (go Broncos!).
My favorite moments were our first look, looking out at our friends and family during the ceremony, getting showered with (completely dissolvable!) confetti after the kiss, and dancing the night away with friends and family. It was SUPER hot in Santa Barbara that day so I may have been the sweatiest bride that ever was, but I had a blast!
