New Year’s Eve calls for a little dose of glitz and glamour, and this bride’s Amanda Wakeley gown most certainly hits the mark. It’s the ultimate frock for a Parisian “I do,” and thanks to the talented Mon Plus Beau Jour, the whole day (rain and all!) was a dream brought to life. Mademoiselle Fiona captured the magic, and it’s all sitting right over here.
From Mademoiselle Fiona Wedding Photography… Gillian+Josh are from Canada and gathered their loved ones in Paris for a lovely, stylish, intimate wedding. They had planned an outdoor ceremony in a little garden tucked away in Le Marais, but it poured pretty much the entire day. Thankfully they had the right attitude and the right planner, and no bad weather could put a damper on the festivities. The ceremony was moved to a beautiful apartment, and although we weren’t able to go to all our originally planned locations, sometimes the impromptu ones are the most fun.
From The Bride… Growing up I never had a vision for my dream wedding. It was not until Josh proposed to me in our apartment after a Saturday night couples session of hot yoga that the wheels began to turn. We knew we wanted a small intimate wedding and realized a destination wedding would accomplish just that.
We went through a list of potential destinations and when Paris came up it just made perfect sense. Paris is always a good idea. We wanted to create an atmosphere for our day that was simple, understated, elegant, and unstuffy, and Verjus provided just that. Although we had never been to Verjus, we instantly fell in love with its photos online as it reminded us of our favorite restaurant in Toronto. Being from Canada we knew we would need some help with the planning.
After speaking with Marie-Emilie from Mon Plus Beau Jour it immediately became clear she was the person for the task. She made the process simple, seamless, and fun. Her most outstanding recommendation to use Mademoiselle Fiona for our photos was incredibly on point. The ceremony in our Paris rental apartment could not have been any more perfect. With a live acoustic rendition of Skinny Love to walk down a rose petal aisle, with all of the people we love and each other- it was everything. For the reception I chose peonies in simple vases for their connection to my grandmother. She grew countless peonies at her nursery when I was a kid. Fiona captured the overwhelming love shared with our family and friends and the absolute joy had by all.
We will never forget that rainy day in Paris. It has left an indelible mark in our hearts and tremendous fond memories will stay with us forever.
