From the Bride… We first met at my office almost three years ago. I had just come back from post-graduate study in London and Matthew had just moved to Jakarta for work. I showed him around Jakarta, introduced him to my family and friends and took him to the hospital (several times) for his upset tummy. In short, it was love at first sight and we are very lucky to have found each other at the right time.

Despite living and working in Jakarta, we decided to have our wedding in Perth (Matthew's hometown). We are so grateful that our wedding preparation was very smooth. I bought the first wedding dress that I tried on and Matthew's mum and sister helped us find all the right vendors that created our dream wedding. My parents were very supportive of our decisions and enjoyed seeing all the Indonesian decorations, gifts, sweets and photobooth props that we incorporated into our wedding.

The main motif for our wedding was a traditional Javanese 'loro blonyo' statue. 'Loro blonyo' roughly translates into 'The Inseperable Couple'. This statue is still common in many family homes in Indonesia and it represents prosperity, happy marriage and fertility. We incorporated this motif into our invitations, menus, cufflink gifts and even our dance floor.

Our wedding day was warm and happy and filled with laughter. We had over 100 guests from Indonesia who took time off work and traveled a long way to be there. No words can describe how much it meant to us to share our day with our closest family and friends.

People ask me what we would do differently for our wedding day. My answer is nothing - our wedding day was perfect in its own way and we are blessed to have and to hold each other.

From DeRay & Simcoe… The couple decided to hold their wedding back in Matthew's hometown but Tia had never actually been to a western style wedding while she was planning her own! She spent hours scouring blogs such as Style Me Pretty to find inspiration for her own wedding. They wanted the day to be the coming together of the two different cultures and feature lots of Indonesian design details as well as a traditional Catholic ceremony.

They chose Aquinas College chapel as the ceremony venue as it had sentimental value to Matthew's family. His father was the principal there when Matthew was a boy so he grew up on the school grounds. The distinctive red brick buildings were a beautiful backdrop for the autumn leaves.

The State Reception Centre in King's Park was the natural choice for their reception, situated high up in the gum tree canopy with it's iconic views overlooking the city skyline.

They kept the strong family theme by selecting Matthew's sister Amanda for the bridesmaid and Tia's brother Danny as the best man.

Tia's exquisite lace dress and mantilla veil suited her petite frame perfectly, and Jimmy Choos completed the look. Matthew brought a few quirky touches to the wedding such as his handmade wooden bowtie sourced on a trip to visit his brother in New York.

They had many guests travel to attend the wedding from Indonesia and hired a wedding planner from The Original Wedding Company just to help coordinate them. This ensured the overseas guests had a wonderful time without having to worry about travel on the wedding day etc.

Matthew and Tia were so in love and it was such a pleasure to be part of this unique wedding. They put a lot of care and consideration into making sure their diverse range of guests had a wonderful time on the day.
