From the Bride…When Luke proposed in the Spring of 2013, I had little idea of what type of wedding I wanted; the dress, the theme, if we’d serve cake. I was really starting from scratch, but don’t let the decisions overwhelm you (or your fiance). The wedding planning process is a great time to learn about each other, how to compromise, and how to work together as a family– which is the real heart of the matter. For us, centering our wedding around a common interest of ours, a love of nature, made decision making much simpler and the day itself felt like a dream. We kept the color palette loose, and my bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses. With the ceremony outside, we mainly focussed on florals for decoration, and Kim from Greenlion was amazing. She incorporated local wildflowers and in-season vegetables in the arrangements to echo our celebration of nature. Plantation catering did a great job with the menu, serving local, simple, yet delicious dishes like oysters on the half-shell and vegetable ratatouille. We topped things off with our favorite beers and in-season fruit pies. It all felt amazing, and most importantly like us.

From Kim of Greenlion Design… Michelle and Luke’s vision for their florals was clear: farm feel, loose garden style blooms and local in-season blooms (our favorite type). We incorporated local dahlias, clematis, zinnias, annabelle hydrangea, privot, oak tree leaves, asters, privet, euonymus, porcelain berry vine, snapdragons, and we even used local vegetables to hold the table numbers.
