Modern Elegance in Australia at Simmer On The Bay
Plain and simple, this wedding is gorgeous. The kind of gorgeous that sticks with you for awhile, and leaves your head full of wonderful day dreams. With its elegant yet fun vibe, the most fabulous pops of yellow, and stunning blooms from Naomi Jones Flower Studio it's easy to see why we are so in love. Thankfully Adrian Tuazon-McCheyne captured every beautiful moment in way that will truly make your day, and you can see just what I mean right here.
From The Bride...I’ve always been a fan of Johanna Johnson’s designs! Her timelessly elegant designs marry both simplicity and grace, and it’s her attention to the small details in her designs that truly make each piece so special. That’s why the first appointment I booked when I got engaged was at Johanna Johnson’s flagship store in Paddington!
As soon as I tried The Everley, I knew it was the one that I wanted to marry my husband in – it was effortlessly elegant with its delicate beaded straps and low back detail and most importantly, fit me beautifully, like it was designed just for me!
The dress fits me beautifully. I never felt more beautiful or more feminine then when I wore The Everley.
My engagement ring – Ever since Breakfast at Tiffanys, I always dreamed of a tiffany proposal. I mentioned this to Chris once and whilst he laughed at me at the time, he must have remembered because he proposed exactly as I always dreamed.
I chose the colour scheme of ivory, yellow, navy blue and green. Given we were having a garden wedding, I wanted the bridesmaids to wear a colour that really popped and I was lucky enough to notice a yellow lace dress in the window at Review. The girls loved it so the rest they say is history!
I chose P Johnson, Carmina and Vanda Fine Clothing because of their obvious passion for their craft – Their attention to every small detail for their suits, shoes and ties are unparalleled in the market.
As Suitshop is a part of the P Johnson business, their passion for stylish suits is still there, albeit, slightly more affordable. It was a no-brainer for our groomsmen.
We loved Little Peach’s accordian style invitation – so we asked them to help us design something truly unique for us, incorporating our wedding colours of blue and yellow as well as penguins.
Sandy Horton, the owner of Naomi Jones, is truly special. She took in the small details that we wanted and then translated these to the floral arrangements for the bridal party and the decorations at Simmer on the Bay. For Sandy, nothing was too hard!
We wanted a garden wedding and Vaucluse House was the perfect location for this. The gardens are beautiful all year round and perfect for that intimate wedding ceremony we were looking for.
We really wanted a venue that represented the two of us. Simmer on the Bay provided us with a blank canvas on which we could design our dream reception setting. With its high ceilings, beautiful timber finishings and stunning Sydney harbour views, we fell in love with the venue the first time we visited it.
Our cake was modern with beautiful flower detail. As soon as we saw it, we knew it was the wedding cake we wanted. Also Patricia’s cakes taste divine – hazelnut with mocha truffle creme YUMMMMMY!
My favorite part of the day was walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Chris waiting for me at the end! His reaction was truly amazing. I’m extremely glad that I could share the moment with our loved ones and friends.
Chris said his favorite part of the day was seeing Minji for the first time as she walked down the aisle. It was that moment where I finally sank in that “I am getting married... to this amazing woman”.
The speeches were our favorite part of the reception! We were truly humbled by the beautiful words everyone said regarding us. There were tears, laughter and beautiful stories!
Adrian Tuazon-McCheyne is an artist. He’s calm, friendly and the consummate professional. Adrian put us at ease and always worked with us rather than directing us to pose! His photos show his artistry and we’re truly blessed that he was there to capture each and every special moment of our wedding day.
Our atmosphere was us. Relaxed, fun and all about the small details.
