Vintage Chic Spring Wedding in Byron Bay
Toasting to your new nuptials at a picnic with your bridal party sounds like the best celebration ever. This couple discovered the perfect way to kick back and get some fabulous photos at the same time with their post-vows sips and snacks, and I have a feeling a lot of us will be recreating this exact thing. Bush Turkey Studios was there to snap up the fun, and let's dive into all the pretty right here.
From Little Gray Station... When Alyce and Kyle contacted us to style their wedding we couldn’t wait to begin. Alyce had a beautiful, dreamy concept in mind for her wedding: romantic, modern-day vintage with soft colours and lots of attention to detail. The couple chose the gorgeous Byron venue "Verandahs" for their day, a private estate that fit Alyce’s vision of a contemporary country wedding perfectly. Sprawling manicured lawns and a forest of tall trees made the perfect blank canvas on which to build this picturesque celebration.
The ceremony itself was held in a small clearing, surrounded by greenery. Soft white flowers tied to string and draped from a tree created a simple, elegant backdrop that complemented the setting to perfection. The ceremony styling included a rustic wooden butlers tray that held handmade rose cones and floral ceremony programs, and the aisle was framed with hanging jars of small posies. The ceremony flowed seamlessly into canapé hour. A drink station was set up on the verandah, overlooking the property as the guests partook in lawn games and enjoyed the exquisite food by private caterer David Forster. Meanwhile, a picnic styled photo shoot was arranged for the bridal party, a playful and casual theme that reflected the occasion.
A clear marquee on the lawn created the reception. We had so much fun styling this - so many creative little details that combined to make something wonderfully effective. Luggage tags with bronzed keys were strung across a pair of vintage doors to create the seating chart at the entrance of the marquee. A rustic white table held a working typewriter where guests were able to type a message to the newlyweds. The table setting was elegant-meets-rustic with a country feel. Vintage books were used for a sense of height, and small posies of flowers and tea lights made the setting soft and romantic. The place cards were simple envelopes with button detailing, with a sweet thank-you message inside from the happy couple. Sprigs of rosemary completed the look and the marquee truly smelt amazing!
The wedding was full of personal little touches that just made the day so special. The miniature jars of pickles and lemon butter were made from a recipe passed down from Alyce’s nanna, for guests to take home and enjoy. Alyce’s nanna had also given each of her granddaughters a teacup when they were young, and these delicate little teacups were displayed on a small tea station - such a beautiful touch to the day. In our opinion it is these personal touches that make a wedding memorable and so full of love. The day was coordinated by the incredible Jane Magnus and captured by the very talented Bush Turkey Photography - we hope you love the photos as much as we do.
