Nightcap with Nespresso VertuoLine
Isn’t there just something about a cup of coffee or an espresso after a really good meal? Well, imagine if that coffee was poured over vanilla ice cream or laced with a bit of rum. Now you’re listening. We used the Nespresso VertuoLine to bring the finishing touches to our sweet spread with two delicious, dessert-inspired drinks that our guests would love. Add to that, a table filled with an array of chocolates, cheesecake, and goodies like biscotti, madeline cookies and a few other yummier when dipped snacks – and we had ourselves the perfect nightcap to our Nespresso filled day.
To recreate the look at home, think dark, moody and delicious. We used small plates and platters filled with treats and used the Nespresso VertuoLine to pour our after dinner Liegeois coffee dessert in the Ritual Water Cups and our Sugar and Spice Nespresso cocktail in highballs, which felt modern and indulgent. The taste is beyond, and the perfect balance to an array of sweet treats. Liegeois
1 tbs. Turbinado (raw) sugar
5-6 dashes orange bitters
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 small wedge of orange + slices for garnish
2 oz. spiced rum
1 Melozio coffee capsule, brewed and cooled (enough for 4 cocktails)
4 tbs. sugar (for glass rim)
1 tbs. cinnamon (for glass rim)
Additional wedges of orange (for glass rim)
In a cocktail shaker, combine sugar, bitters and cinnamon. Squeeze wedge of orange into shaker and discard. Swirl to moisten all ingredients. Add rum and stir to dissolve sugar slightly. Add 4 oz. of Melozio coffee. Fill cocktail shaker with ice and shake mixture to chill. Strain cocktail into two rimmed, tall serving glasses or tumblers filled with fresh ice. Garnish with orange slices.
For glass rim, stir together sugar and cinnamon until evenly mixed. Pour into shallow bowl or dish. Slide orange wedges along the rim of serving glasses to moisten. Dip the rim of the glass into the sugar mixture until evenly coated and shake off excess.
