New York City Wedding at the Saint Regis Hotel

When I first sat down and opened this gorgeous wedding, my head was all over the place. I was in busy mode and my to-do list was top of mind. But that all changed when I hit play on  Tweed Weddings‘ heart-grabbing film. At that moment, all that mattered was watching By Yena Designs‘ spectacular New York City wedding unfold. It’s a true testament of the importance of wedding cinematography, and definitely worth a few minutes of your busy Monday. See more here.

From By Yena DesignsI’ve been a floral and event designer for the last 5 years and recently started my own company, By Yena Designs. My husband is a landscape designer and we met when I was the events director at a large floral design company in downtown Manhattan.

We chose to get married in New York, a special place for us having met in the city and having both worked in New York for many years. We also go engaged in Westchester.

We wanted our wedding to reflect both our tastes for modern design but within a classic New York ballroom. We chose the Saint Regis rooftop ballroom as the perfect spot for our classic New York wedding with a modern twist.

I designed and created all the floral décor for our wedding (except my bouquet! which my dear friend and floral designer colleague created for me), designed and printed all paper elements including the whole wedding invitation suite, and chose the linen and napkin colors to compliment the flowers and the lighting design.

We chose purple/indigo as our wedding color and wanted to use as many shades of purple and blue that we could. I had all the bridesmaids choose their own dresses in any purple or blue color they liked. They all wore, Amsale, Monique Lhuiller Bridesmaids, and Jim Hjelm.

The flowers were of course my favorite part of planning the wedding! I chose to use mostly white flowers with pops purple in varying shades. All different shades of purple like lavender from the Ocean Song Roses, dark purple Tulips, and even the bi-colored Picasso Callas.
