Rustic Springtime Texas Wedding

I had to double check that this was actually a real wedding, the photos are just that perfectly lovely. But then toss in that Texas attitude, a David Peck beauty, cowboy boots plus the cutest pup ever and I’m practically begging to be one of this bride and groom’s buddies.  Select Studios and Luxe Films joined in the festivities and captured the whole two-steppin’ good time for us all to enjoy.

From The Bride… My husband and I had dated for 5.5 years and we finally tied the knot on May 10, 2014. Our wedding and reception took place at a beautiful place called ‘Top O’ The Hill’ in Montgomery, TX. (We were the fifth and final wedding held here, so they no longer have a website). The venue was a family’s weekend home that for a short time held weddings. Our wedding was all about the beauty of the outdoors. The ceremony took place on the top of the hill which overlooked the gorgeous trees and land. The reception dinner took place next to the barn beneath a group lighted trees. The barn served as the perfect dance hall for the reception.

There were a lot of DIY projects that my family and I made. My dad made the rustic planter boxes out of old fence posts. They served as our table centerpieces. I painted the canvases that were the backdrop for our self serve photo booth. I made the streamers that were on the back of the ceremony chairs. (which can be seen blowing in the wind in the video) and my Aunt made my gorgeous cake. I wanted simple and for the flowers to be the only embellishment.

Some of my favorite touches from our wedding include having a family friend sing and play acoustic guitar during our ceremony. The bridal party processional was  ‘All Those Pretty Lights’ by Andrew Belle and the bridal processional was ‘Ends of the Earth’ by Lord Huron. We had a featured beer, Hoss Lager by Great Divide. I was able to order a bunch of cases from the Colorado based brewery which made for a unique ‘specialty’ drink. Pretty cool to have a beer feature my new last name. I loved having our goldendoodle ‘puppy daughter,’ June be a part of our big day. The florist made a beautiful flower collar for her to wear. It just wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Exiting the reception in my dad’s classic 1956 Ford F150. He’s been working on this truck since I was a little girl. It’s now a beautifully restored show truck. My wedding dress which was custom made by a dear friend and talented designer, David Peck. His clothes are made and designed in Houston, Tx where my husband and I live. Matt’s grooms cake was very unique because it featured his two favorite hobbies, dirt track racing and kayak fishing. It was an exact replica of his dirt track car that he and his dad used to race. The kayak resting on top of the car is an exact replica of his kayak.

Another favorite touch was our DIY photo booth. Our guests took their own pictures and pasted along with a message in a book. I loved being able to look at the photo book on the way to our honeymoon. Also, for our first dance we two-stepped to ‘She’s Like Texas’ by Josh Abbott. Our love for Texas country was shown throughout our big day.

The day was absolutely perfect and exactly Matt and I. It was a bit of rustic mixed with a bit of chic. The video does an amazing job of capturing the feel our wedding. We are excited to exclusively share with you the most important day of our lives.
