Oregon Summer Wedding at Mt. Hood Organic Farms

As a native Oregonian, I have to admit this wedding transported me back home. Every detail Andria Lo captured from this Summer fête is picture perfect, starting with the cyclist couple and ending with views of Mt. Hood, not to mention the blooms by Lucy’s Informal Flowers are pure artistry. After peeking through the gallery, I can almost smell the pine trees.

From The Bride…Brad and I both knew we wanted to keep our wedding relaxed and fun. With sprawling lawns for kids to run around, secret ponds to discover, and beautiful Mt. Hood as the backdrop, Mt. Hood Organic Farms was the perfect venue for us. We also loved that the farm’s caterer, Cultivate Catering serves family style meals using organic and local ingredients.

Since we are avid cyclists we incorporated a cycling and tandem bike theme. We had a lot of fun planning out the reception table details –each table was named after a favorite climb we’d done on our travels and the card included a story and why the ride was so meaningful to us. Also on the back of each guest’s name card, we inscribed personal notes for them to discover during dinner.

Since the majority of our guests were from out of town, we wanted to give them a delicious sampling of some of the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer. We had spring chinook salmon for one of the entrees, Seattle’s Best Chocolates “Pink Bubbly” as favors (chocolate with pop rocks inside!), an Oregon marionberry wedding cake, and Salt and Straw Ice Cream, a Portland favorite.

One of the highlights for me was our first dance. Years before I met Brad, my best friend asked what I’d want my first dance to be. I already knew it would be “The Sound of Music Dance” with the musical’s choreography, but she warned me I’d probably never find a guy willing to do such a cheesy dance. Fortunately, she was wrong! Brad and I had never rehearsed without messing up, but when the time came, we nailed it! Just one of many sweet memories from a day that felt like a total fairy tale.
