With the temps dropping to chilly (read: nearly freezing) levels in New England this morning, a cozy wedding like this glowing Liberty Warehouse fete from Tory Williams is just what we need to warm up a little and get this week started right. And it’s quaint New York romance in every sense… brick walls paired with fur throws, Moscow Mules in hand, twinkling lights strung about and an after party at Brooklyn Brewery. It all makes for a gorgeously inviting gallery.
From the beautiful Bride…Both Rob and I fell in the love with the Liberty Warehouse the moment we walked in. It is such a great raw space with some beautiful, thoughtful touches that make it a very special venue. We really wanted a winter wedding in New York and the Liberty Warehouse gave us an indoor setting with amazing views of the city. The space was big enough to accommodate both ceremony and reception in separate areas (upstairs and downstairs, respectively) and gave guests new spaces to discover.
The ceremony was pretty traditional and we choose officants significant to both our families to perform it. The Statue of Liberty provided the perfect backdrop to the ceremony as the sun set over the river. After the ceremony, guests were invited downstairs to cocktail hour in the bridge room, where they were served our signature cocktail of a Moscow Mule. We wanted the space to keep its industrial feel but also have a soft romantic feel and used beautiful flowers by Brrch with vintage postcards that served as a guest book to do so. The colors were whites with hints of pale pink highlighted by the warm glow of candlelight. We created a cozy lounge around the giant brick fireplace in the center of the space complete with fur throws and a hide rug.
Guests were then invited into the reception area where every table was named after a city Rob and I had visited or lived together (London was the rowdiest!) The centerpieces were all slightly different with whites, reds and pale pinks, most featuring my favorite anemones. We hung bistro lights from the ceiling to give the space a more intimate feel and a bistro glow. After dinner, guests enjoyed “Steve’s Key Lime Pies” and “Baked” cookies and desserts, both local Brooklyn purveyors. Guests danced to the amazing tunes of the East Coast Band and no one wanted the party to end! As the band began to wind down, guests found their way next door to the Brooklyn Brewery for an after party complete with glow sticks, fake mustaches, pizza and late night snacks and of course, a DJ.
