This stunning couple envisioned their wedding as “an elegant downtown New York City evening that that glistened with romance”, and every inch of it owns up to that statement in the best kind of way. From the gilded stationery by Bella Figura to the cozy candlelit ceremony, Brian Hatton is taking us through each moment, seamlessly, in this glowing gallery.
From the beautiful Bride…The first time I walked into The Bowery Hotel I knew it was a special place. I instantly fell in love with the unique and untraditional space with its amazing character. When Ben proposed 5 years later in Gramercy Park, I quickly said “yes” and almost immediately called The Bowery Hotel. I knew it was the perfect setting for us to begin the rest of our lives. After our first walk through, Ben agreed that he loved it and we instantly knew it would be the ideal venue for our special day.
When we envisioned our wedding, we saw an elegant downtown New York City evening that that glistened with romance. With the help of our amazing florist, Vanessa, we were able to evoke the romantic Secrete Garden feeling of which I had been dreaming. Ben and I both wanted to have an intimate and personal ceremony, and to throw a really great dinner party.
We kept this in mind as we began to plan and tried to fill every detail with a personal touch. As guests entered into the ceremony, classic love songs played on the saxophone and pictures of our family member’s weddings lined the bar. Our ceremony took place in front of the fireplace and our florist transformed it into a cascading arrangement that would serve as the perfect enchanting backdrop to our ceremony. We wrote every word of our ceremony in the months leading up to the wedding. Ryan, the mutual friend that introduced me to Ben, married us and two of our uncles read quotes of love and inspiration from children’s books.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the terrace. A jazz duet serenaded the guests to that classic New York City saxophone sound as they sipped on cocktails and ate hors devours. A scroll hung from the ceiling guiding guests to their seats. We entered the party and danced our first dance to Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. As classic rat pack tunes played, guests entered the dining room and found two long king tables set with Florentine gold trimmed chargers and gold silverware. All white flowers and greenery flowed down the length of the tables while candlelight warmed the room. In between courses, toasts were made in the center of the tables, giving the room an intimate setting.
As the sun set in the windows of the Bowery, the party began. To kick off the party the Italian Tarantella was played, which transitioned into the Jewish Hora. This was important to us because it melded the traditions of our two families together and got everyone on the dance floor. After hours of dancing, we stepped outside together to savior the moment with New York City surrounding us and, in the middle of the street on Bowery with the Empire State building in the background; we took a final dance for the evening.
