When these two special education teachers met six years ago, it didn’t take long before a friendship and eventual romance followed. And once the question was popped and the was date set, a wedding at the bride’s family vacation home made perfect sense. Ruth Eileen captured every moment, Delicious Desserts designed the (amazing!) cake and Brighter Lights Media crafted the film you don’t want to miss.

From the Bride… Rob and I met six years ago in New York City as special education teachers in the South Bronx. He grew up in Suffern, NY and I had just moved to the city from Santa Cruz, California. We bonded quickly during our first year of teaching and graduate school, and have been best friends ever since.
From the moment Rob proposed, I knew we would get married in Cape Cod. My family has a cottage in Wareham, Massachusetts that has been a summer vacation destination for several generations and my favorite place in the entire world. Since the beginning of our relationship, Rob and I have spent countless hours at the beach cottage, surrounded by family or enjoying a romantic getaway from our busy life in Manhattan.
When we found the Popponesset Inn, there was no need to look further for the perfect wedding venue. We wanted a romantic, nautical beach wedding, and thanks to our parents and amazing vendors, Rob and I literally had the wedding of our dreams.
Our wedding was on the evening of May 25th under a tent on the beach. The ceremony was performed by a close friend of mine and included Jewish and Christian traditions, as well as our own vows and a Fisherman’s Knot. My favorite parts of the day were the personal touches, from the interfaith ceremony to the funfetti wedding cake to the chalkboard sinage to the gilded NYC taxicabs we used for escort cards to pay homage to city where met and fell in love.
The colors we chose were mint and coral, with touches of gold, with the anchor playing a central role in our decor. Our huppah was built by my father, who incorporated our color scheme and other gorgeous details like lace and nautical rope. The flowers by Sweet Annie Floral Designs consisted of large, colorful garden roses, ranunculus, and peonies with touches of dusty miller.
Rob and I could not have asked for a more beautiful day. We are filled with so much love and gratitude for our friends, family, and all the people we worked with who made our day unforgettable.
