From The Bride…Yay, we were finally engaged! Our first thought: a summer 2013, barn/vineyard, nature-inspired wedding with our boxer, Brutus, participating in the ceremony. “Green (my favorite color), rustic-chic” would be the theme. As families and friends became more involved, we had to find a compromise between our dream of a relatively small, outdoorsy gathering and a large-scale, catering hall affair. In the end, it all worked out perfectly.

Our March 2013 ceremony and reception at The Loeb Boathouse in Central Park all came together in less than six months. We’re proof every detail from the wedding dress and flowers to the handmade hotel welcome bags and custom ceremony can all be pulled together in far less time than any wedding specialist would dare to admit. Although the road to ‘day of’ was stressful and jam packed with crossing to-do’s off various lists, it was the most magical day of our lives. The idyllic Central Park setting provided the nature backdrop to a sophisticated evening of love and laughter. As everyone says, when the day finally arrives it goes by in a blur. Taking a few pauses throughout the event to focus on each other and be in the moment brings the visual memories captured in our gorgeous photographs to life.

I wasn’t as focused on the dress, but rather the shoes. My Jimmy Choo, sparkled, deep blue, 4-inch peep-toe wedges were the perfect combination of elegant style and surprising comfort. Although many guests didn’t see the shoes, they were a piece of our special day and a memento to be displayed long after the main event.

Green and white parrot tulips took center stage for the flowers with complimentary orchids and accents of deep pink mini calla lilies. This color palate brought in the feel of nature and truly looked lovely against the gray tones of the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits. My mother conceptualized the table settings with low profile vases of all different shapes holding three bunches of the same flower on each table. Not only was this classic and polished, but it also provided a nice take-home favor for our guests with plenty leftover for the post-wedding brunch.
