Georgetown Summer Day Wedding
With an al fresco affair, this bride was influenced by the natural beauty of Tudor Place grounds, and kept a color scheme of greens and neutrals. Adding to the organic feel, Ultra Violet Flowers designed simple, yet stunning arrangements. All together the wedding was light, airy and romantic; one that you know was just as beautiful to attend. Stop and swoon each shot by Sweet Tea Photography in the gallery right here.
Ted and I were set up by Ted’s mother and a friend of mine. We met for dinner at a restaurant on the Upper East Side right before the Christmas holidays. We were a little nervous, but we sensed something special in each other. A year after we met, Ted proposed over dinner at a restaurant on the Upper West Side.
I was looking for a casual elegant look. I wanted to combine my sense of elegance with Ted’s rustic sensibility. Green is my favorite color. Since the wedding was outdoors in a natural setting, I wanted the colors to correspond to the environment. My favorite detail was Ted’s pineapple boutonniere. I also loved the tree cookie gift prepared by Susan Gage. We were married under a tree and it was the theme of our wedding. I’d always admired Tudor Place ever since taking yoga classes on its grounds. I knew I wanted my wedding to be outdoors in an urban setting and Tudor Place fit the bill. It felt like home to us. The wedding was intimate and we were able to connect with everyone who traveled to be with us.
My favorite memory is walking down the lawn with my father during the ceremony and being surrounded by so many loving faces. And, of course, seeing Ted by the tree waiting for me! It was a truly moving feeling. My wedding truly exceeded our expectations. Everything went according to plan and even the weather cooperated. We couldn’t have been happier
My biggest challenge in planning the wedding was planning from New York, rather than locally in Washington, DC. My advice to future brides is to enjoy the process and don’t worry too much. Everything has a way of working out in the end.
