From Firefly Events…We love a cozy winter wedding, and Ilana + Tim’s snowy December wedding was one for the books! We worked with Ilana to add warm, inviting, and personal touches to every aspect of her beautiful venue, The Foundry in Long Island City. To set the mood, we brought in a number of antique rugs and placed them through out the space, including three of our favorites, which we layered under the chuppah. Ilana’s father is Turkish and the family has a collection of similar rugs, so this seemed like a natural fit. Next, we paired these with plush vintage furniture in rich tones, and added cozy lambskin throws and pillows throughout. Candlelight could be found in almost every corner of the venue, from a variety of lanterns, votives, and tall taper candles.

Instead of a traditional sit down dinner, the bride and groom opted for a cocktail style reception. This meant that we could really mix things up when it came to the food! We worked with Creative Edge to transform one of the rooms into a foodie heaven, reminiscent to one of the gourmet food fairs that we’ve all become addicted to, here in New York City. Stations included, tacos, Middle Eastern fare, pasta, and civiche. Not surprisingly, this was a huge hit with guests, who had a chance to sample each selection while chatting with friends and listening to one of the best DJ’s in town, Kenan from Les Loups.

Poppies and Posies was on hand to create beautiful seasonal florals throughout The Foundry, as well as constructing the stunning chuppah AND one of our favorite details from the night, a glowing installation wall of terrariums and candles. As if working with this amazing team was not enough, Mother Nature pitched in for the best detail of all- snow!! Ilana + Tim’s wedding happened to fall on the first snowstorm of the season and it couldn’t have been more picture perfect.
