I love seeing how couples incorporate personal details to make their day that much more special to them. From The Bride…Since we lived far away from our family and friends, and because of Jeremy’s service in the Army, we really wanted to incorporate a lot of personal touches to our wedding weekend. We wanted it to be a relaxing time for everyone who traveled to Waco since we had guests coming from Ireland, England and all over the US. We saw this as an opportunity for our families and closest friends to meet and blend.

We decided to have our ceremony and reception at Jeremy’s parents Ranch, The Spur, because it has always been a relaxing getaway for us and a beautiful sight to see. We used antique silver and china from both sides of the family to include some of the loved ones who couldn’t be with us on our wedding day. Our theme was sort of a like a country garden party. We didn’t want to overdue the ranch theme or be too “matchy-matchy”. I used my grandmother’s rosary on my bouquet, and wore my mother’s pearls. Jeremy’s Father became an ordained minister before the wedding, so he married us under the pecan wood arch he built and surprised both sides of the family. It was really special. Jeremy’s mom was our florist with the help of family and bridesmaids the night before. We put together lavender sachets for guests to throw as we came up the aisle as Mr. and Mrs.. Jeremy’s grandfather created our new initials out of wood, which hung behind us at dinner. We did a lot of antiquing in Texas and DIY-d chalkboard signs, table numbers, hay seating and lighting décor. One of my bridesmaids painted a tree for guests to sign and stamp. For the unity part of the ceremony, we watered a potted tree to symbolize our growing love that we will continue to nurture.

We are such foodies, so we really wanted to make sure all of the food served on the wedding day and at the rehearsal dinner was local and consciously raised. I arrived to the ceremony, and we left in Jeremy’s grandfathers 1940’s Ford that he restored himself. Jeremy’s father came up with the brilliant idea to serve beer in the bucket of the tractor, which was pulled up next to the original 1900’s barn, turned bar for the reception. We built a couch lounge out of hay for guests to sit on and sip margaritas while enjoying the lawn games put out for cocktail hour. Guests enjoyed s’mores after cake and tons of dancing before the night was over. Both our mother’s were so wonderful to pick up on all the small details leading up to the big day. Our wedding couldn’t have been the most perfect day of our lives without our family and friends to be there and for all of their help. We have never felt so loved.
