Colorful Boulder Engagement
There are so many beautiful engagements on SMP, but this mountain e-sesh has stolen my heart in a serious way. From the stunning blooms by Violet Floral Design to the killer captures from Connie Whitlock Photography, I could spend all morning clicking through pics. Hop to the gallery for so much more!
From the Bride... Jimmer and I began dating while we were students at Colorado College. We happened to be taking the same evening class, and also lived in the same apartment building, so we got to know each other on our walks home at the end of the night. Our busy schedules kept us from being able to plan an official date until Valentine’s Day. To lessen the awkwardness of a first date on a holiday designed for love, Jimmer planned a goofy date that included him losing to me at bowling.
Somewhere in the last five years, Jimmer and I have moved to Denver, found jobs teaching, became roommates, bought a TV, got a dog, and then bought our first home. Jimmer and I both have a great love for the outdoors and the Colorado landscape. Jimmer’s proposal was in a beautiful park in Denver and we are currently planning our wedding in the laid-back mountain town of Estes Park. So for our engagement pictures, we couldn’t imagine any thing other than being outside. But, we wanted a different landscape than our high-mountain wedding venue will offer. Connie Whitlock Photography delivered, finding two parks just outside Boulder that were absolutely stunning. We will definitely return to those gorgeous locations for some hikes and picnics in the future.
Knowing that I will be in the color white in just a few weeks (yay!), I wanted to wear a pop of color for this shoot. I love how the dress stands out against the background. Jimmer was also able to experiment more with his outfit and picked a two-tone look. We were even able to use the cruiser bike, which was a special gift from Jimmer, in a few shots. We did not use a lot of other props, but I adored the bouquet from A Violet Floral Design. We felt we were able to be much more adventurous than the color palette planned for our wedding day, and the vibrant colors of this bouquet were perfect.
From Tricia Egan of Violet Floral Design.. When Caitlin decided on a long gorgeous red dress for her engagement session, she had the idea to go more bold with color when it came to her bouquet. Her upcoming soft and dusty wedding palette consists of blush pinks, so it was a fun chance to get edgy with the bright tones and fabulous textures! The bouquet recipe includes a diverse mixture of: Ivory Peonies, Pink Anemones, Burgundy Scabiosa Pods, Pale Blue Muscari, Citrus Grevillea, Red Amaranthus, Olive Branch and one yellow Poppy. Last, I tied the stems with a combination of colored flowing ribbon and... Voila!
