Inspiration for the Littlest Members of the Wedding Party

So often we see adorable flower girls and the dapperest of ring bearers gracing the pages of SMP, and now, we have whimsical inspiration dedicated to these wee ones. From crazy cute outfit ideas to a children’s table that will surely getting a standing ovation, this shoot crafted by Whitepeacock Styled Events + Munster Rose and Liz Banfield is the true definition of charming.

From Liz Banfield PhotographyInspired by a cotton floral print from Liberty of London found in a children’s party dress by Oscar de la Renta, photographer Liz Banfield and creative powerhouse Whitepeacock Styled Events set out to capture a spring wedding design to compliment an adorable flower girl and ring bearer. The exuberant palette of pink, mango, and turquoise informed all the charming details, including a “kids-only” table featuring card games, custom name balloons, strawberry milk jars rimmed with sprinkles, macaron “pops,” and glitter cupcakes. What child wouldn’t feel special at this event? Whitepeacock also created a vibrant table skirt made of ribbons, lace trim, and pom-poms to compliment the vintage table.

Not afraid of a little DIY, a ring pillow was sewn from turquoise gingham with a contrasting mini-pom trim placed on a wood plate from Muji. The flower girl “basket” was adapted (with two drilled holes) from a coordinating wood bowl, adorned with a sweet floral trim from Daytona Braids & Trimming in NYC. Striped straws were transformed into “waving wands” with the application of ribbons.

Floral designer Jackie Reisnauer of Munster Rose updated the typical flower girl headpiece by grouping the flowers in an asymmetrical arrangement. A combination of seasonal spring blooms — Scabiosa, Garden Roses, Ranunculus, Sweet William, and Italian Ruscus — highlighted the color palette as well as the flower girl’s charming curls. For the ring bearer, a scaled down boutonniere complimented his dapper Oscar de la Renta linen jacket and plaid bow-tie.

To make the duo feel extra special, individual mini-cakes were created by Banfield using and easy fondant recipe (comprised mostly of store bought marshmallows!) found online. Miniature cookie cutters were used to cut out simple floral shapes and then topped off with a simple decorative sugar pearl.
