A hint of Parisian is our version of perfection and this wedding gets it so right with decor that’s vintage along with a subtle nod to all things French. One look at Kevin Trowbridge’s photos – the peonies by Classic Creations, the romance and beautiful all white tablescapes coordinated by English Rose and a tres chic photo booth and you’ll agree that Paris is always a good idea.
From the Bride… The theme for our wedding day was classic vintage style. Featuring a hint of “Parisian” elegance with a soft color palette of mint green and blush pink. The “Parisian” theme seemed only fitting as Mitchell proposed to me in Paris. This trip to Europe proved to be full of surprises. It was a planned trip with my mother and I, and Mitchell joined us near the end of our trip at the last moment. Mitchell had always joked that he would propose to me on the Eiffel Tower should we ever visit there. But it certainly was not on my mind that day as we were atop the tower. So not surprisingly, the Eiffel Tower became a special symbol for us and one that we wanted to capture on our wedding day.
Mitchell and I were engaged for almost two years before we got married. During our engagement, we explored many differed options for a wedding destination. Places such as Hawaii, Bora Bora, California and even beautiful Banff, Alberta were on our list. We were determined to have a “destination” wedding but it was also important to us to have our family and friends attend.
But then it came to us, while visiting my dad in Kelowna. BC. We had visited some local wineries and quickly realized that this would be a perfect destination spot. Immediately, we decided upon the beautiful Summerhill Pyramid Winery. Both our ceremony and reception took place at this lovely venue. Summerhill Pyramid Winery is located on the Okanagan Lake with the most breath taking views of the Okanagan. It boasts a charming venue with just the right amount of rustic appeal that certainly would fit with our vintage theme.
I believe that it is the “special little details” that makes a wedding unique. While exploring several wedding blogs and Pinterest for inspiration, I discovered that many of my favourite” vintage inspired” wedding themes were created by “Vintage Origami”. Yuriko is a true artist in her field. She gets to know the wedding couple so that she can incorporate special touches that compliment their own personal tastes and style. She takes great care to create the most beautiful vintage settings where no two weddings are exactly alike.
At our wedding ceremony and reception site, Yuriko incorporated our love for Paris, vintage keys, books and tea cups. Mitchell had pretty much allowed me full creative freedom for the big day, but I wanted to ensure that our day was just as special for him. Mitchell’s love for reading was captured with the most “spectacular” wall of books which served as a backdrop for our Candy Buffet Table. After a closer look, you would also find golden skeleton keys thoughtfully placed throughout the venue. All of these details were so beautiful that everyone was truly in “awe”. To further add to the sentiment of the day, we incorporated old black and white photos of parents, grandparents and family members who were no longer present to help us celebrate our special day. Family has always been important to us and this was a great way to remember them and acknowledge them on this occasion.
For our photography, Mitchell and I opted to have “First Look” photos taken before our wedding ceremony. We thought it would be extra special for him to be the first to see his Bride and of course, for me to see my Groom. These “First Look” photos were taken at the Okanagan Lavendar Farm. The farm featured beautiful hedges that were carved into an interesting maze. While Mitchell stood within the center of the maze, I worked my way through these beautiful hedges until I found my Groom! These made for beautiful photos!
Every aspect of the wedding turned out so beautiful, that I could not have imagined a more perfect day. Even the weather was on our side, despite reports of rain. With the immense planning of every last detail, I was so grateful that we had such AMAZING photographers to capture every detail and every moment. This included candid shots of the wedding party and guests, sentimental moments shared with family and friends and all of the small touches that made our wedding so “uniquely” ours. A couple’s “BIG” day goes by so quickly. So it was important for us to be able to capture these memories and look back and reminisce…not only about the beautiful scenery and décor of that day…but also to remember how we felt about each special moment.
PARIS….is always a good idea!
