Mardis Gras Inspired New Orleans Wedding

This is what happens when traditional elegance meets a seriously fun duo, a fab team of New Orleans vendors and a little dose of Mardis Gras goodness: a day that is as awe-inspiring as it is pretty.  I’m talking an enchanted garden-like ceremony meets drop-dead gorgeous details and Mardis Gras masks perfect for a dance party.  See it all captured by Koby And Terilyn Brown right here.

From Koby and Terilyn Brown… Meribeth’s wedding card for Lad features two skeletons holding hands and the words, “Till Death Do Us Part Is For Quitters.” This couple’s love runs deep and we had the opportunity to create some fascinating pre-wedding portraits for them in one of New Orleans’ oldest cemeteries. What made this especially challenging was Meribeth and Lad’s request NOT to see each other before the ceremony. We accomplished the images taken in the gorgeous cemetery by keeping the bride and groom on opposite sides of the architecture and occasionally using double exposures to make it appear the couple is standing side by side in the frame. This set of images is one of our favorites from this fall – we really enjoyed all the unique aspects of this wedding.

Meribeth and Lad currently reside in Houston, TX, but they have strong family roots in New Orleans, LA. They really wanted to embrace the flavor of the city and give their guests an authentic adventure. Meribeth chose the beautiful, historic Opera Guild as the venue. Guest were provided with venetian masks, snacks, and maps to the city in the welcome gift bags. A lovely outdoor ceremony followed by a fabulous 2nd line march around the block, lead into an indoor-outdoor reception complete with a tarot card reader and a band that had guests dancing well into the night. Bridesmaids were given the freedom to choose their own dresses for the event, and a sagebowl was available for guests wishing to be smudged before the ceremony.
