Being a recent transplant in New England, I’ve really come to love the Spring and the crazy amounts of gorgeous blooms dotting the area. It’s a flower lover’s dream and bonus, it makes for a beautiful wedding day backdrop. This vintage inspired affair captured by Forevercandid Photography, along with florals by Karla Cassidy Designs is total proof. Check out the gallery for so much more.

My mom, myself and maid of honor put a lot of work into every detail that was DIY including the signage, flowers, my dress, the family “tree”, programs, table names and centerpieces. I even wanted to make our signature drinks unique to us by naming them around our personalities the “Bubbly Bradley” and “Murphy Mule”. Throughout the day we had a subtle theme of A&A (Aidan and Alex), with wooden letters and & throughout the property as well as a large metal A&A.
My mom made the all the centerpieces from scratch and the flower arrangements (18!) as well as the Audrey Hepburn signage “The Best Thing in Life to Hold onto is Each other”, one of my most favorite quotes. We wanted to do something different than table numbers that we see at every wedding, so we decided on words that describe marriage (wonderful, love, forever, friendship). We made these as well.
Alex’s dad made us the wooden signage / guest board, and the birch trellis we got married under from a mere vision I had and they came out perfect! Alex’s Mom made our cake and all the desserts for the guests. My maid of honor designed the welcome sign for the ceremony, the appetizer sign and bar signs listing the signature drinks.
We met as neighbors in South Boston, we both had dogs and would run into each walking them around the block, from our first date we hit it off and knew we were the perfect fit we had been searching for. Alex makes me laugh every single day and still gives me those same butterflies he did when I first met him years ago. He pushes me to do better, be better and is a constant rock and support system when I need it most. Everyday is an adventure together, and we’re so excited to be joined as an official family now and someday start ours.
Since I was a little girl I dreamed of remaking my mother and grandmother’s dress into something of my own, after the ring when it was my turn to go “dress” shopping my mom and I both were so excited to create a unique work of art that was a family heirloom and had so much special meaning. I mean, when else in your life can you design a dress of your dreams that has so much special meaning.
My mother, Nancy wore the dress October 1st, 1977 when she married my dad Kevin. Before that, my Nana Betty Stangle wore the dress October 9th, 1940 when she married Frank. On May 24th, I wore my very own newly designed version to marry Alex. (We displayed before photos of the dress at cocktail hour for guests to see the transformation).
Since we met walking our dogs, and our dogs are such a big part of our life, we wanted to donate to our local animal shelter in lieu of favors. Also, Alex’s dog Charlie was a rescue dog. After going to so many weddings together, we both thought a donation favor is a nice reminder to give back to the community.
Alex and I both love good food, especially local farm-to-table. Elaine, Alex’s mother is a chef at a farm to table restaurant so it is very near and dear to our hearts, eating organic local foods. We are happy to say all the food served at our wedding was from Fireside Catering and farm to fork.
Most importantly, we wanted everyone to experience a lovely, unique and memorable wedding while feeling like family, both coming from two large Irish families (Bradley and Murphy), we really wanted it to seem like an intimate close family affair/celebration of love although there was 175 people, I think we really were able to make everyone feel the love and apart of our big day.
