Coastal Wedding in the Outer Banks of NC

We get kind of excited (read: ecstatic) when one of our lovely LBBers ties the knot—because we know lots of swooning is sure to follow when we get a peek at the pretty imagery. So when the sweet Sara of Mint 102 sent over her soft coral, love-filled day, shot by Millie Holloman? A bit of bubbly-poppin’ was in order. Cheers to you darling Sara on your gooorgeous wedding!

From the beautiful Bride…Scott and I met in Wilmington, NC in 2007 at our gym and it wasn’t until about a year later that we went on our first date, taking both of our crazy chocolate labs to play ball on the beach. We dated for a few years before Scott decided to go back to school at the Virigina Tech Carillion School of Medicine in 2011. After a long distance relationship and a LOT of driving, Scott proposed on Wrightsville Beach with our two chocolate labs in tow, reminiscent of our very first date years ago.

When we started this whole wedding planning process, we knew we didn’t want it to be anything too fancy or formal, as that really just wasn’t our style. We wanted it to be relaxed, casual, and most importantly…a really awesome party. We loved the idea of renting a huge beach house for a week so our friends and family could stay and vacation right along with us. So when we found the Croatan Ridge home out in Buxton, NC, we knew that was the perfect place.

As a partner and designer of Mint 102, our wedding and event branding company, I wanted to make sure the event was well branded, of course. It might sound a bit strange, but Scott and I love a good skull and crossbones. So we paired our unique wedding logo with a soft coral to peach ombre pattern and a touch of gold made for a lovely juxtaposition. From the invites and save the dates, to the mason jars and water bottle labels, there definitely wasn’t a shortage of skulls present on our big day, that’s for sure.

The week leading up to the wedding was full of DIY wedding preparations, family meals and late nights of drinking games and catching up with all of our amazing friends and family. Our wedding was simply a night cap to the awesome vacation spent with some of our most favorite people in the world.

The day itself was perfect for us, but not because of the weather. While we were expecting the average 70-75 degree weather on the OBX, we were instead greater by some seriously crazy winds (and I mean wine blowing out of glasses, freezing cold, OMG is there hurricane coming and we didn’t know it- type winds…the proof is in the crazy hair). So everything after the ceremony had to be moved from the amazing pool deck overlooking the sound inside to the pool house…but hey, it didn’t rain!

We will be forever grateful for this awesome day and to all that traveled so far to celebrate with us. A very special thank you to our parents, our families, our friends, and to all of our vendors for all of their love and support throughout the wedding planning process and playing such a huge part in making this day happen!
