From The Bride…We embraced the rustic, mountain environment by adding elegance and DIY charm to reflect our love story. Making our big day personal and unique was very important to us. Not only are we high school sweethearts, but John and I dated for 10 years (8 of them long distance) before we were able to make this day happen. Countless friends and family helped to get us down the aisle…and we wanted them to feel special too.

I surprised my mother and grandmother by taking my bridal portraits in the wedding gown they each wore down the aisle. We loved the nod to our Kentucky heritage with the commemorative Kentucky Derby glasses dating back to the 1970’s that we gifted to our guests. Instead of typical table numbers, we elected to have important dates and numbers tell a story on the tables. I’ll never forget the tears flowing when the violin started playing and I took my father’s arm. My favorite moment is still hearing the man I’d been with for 10 years tell me he remembered the first time he laid eyes on me, a detailed story he’d never shared with me before that day.
