I may sound like a broken record, but intimate weddings are my absolute favorite. They warm my heart right up and make me feel like a part of all the pretty. This beauty photographed and designed by Sweet Root Village is the perfect example, and is proof that intimate doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. I would go as far to say it makes it even more chic. See why here.
From the Bride…Kyle and I chose to have an intimate wedding ceremony and reception with 20 of our closest family members and friends. I completely fell in love with the Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria because of its Downton Abbey charm and sophistication. We wanted our guests to feel as if they were attending a fabulous dinner party while there happened to be a wedding beforehand. We decided on a long King’s Table filled with romantic white candles, a soft color pallet of flowers and gold finishes throughout.
The inspiration for my dress was that it needed to simply flow. At Soliloquy Bridal Couture I found a simple Lazaro special occasion gown that I had custom altered to have a dramatic drape on the back. The draping was remarkable work! I received so many wonderful compliments about my wedding dress. What really made this day superb were our vendors who made the wedding a complete breeze while we carried on without a worry in the world. Specifically, our florist and photographer, who is one of Kyle and I’s incredibly talented, creative, and downright remarkable friend, Rachel Bridgwood of Sweet Root Village. Rachel made my pre-wedding jitters disappear simply with her smile and calming personality. The ceremony and reception went by so smoothly. Our guests were having a lovely time, the food was fabulous and the décor was beyond gorgeous. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!
We wanted our parting gifts for our guests to be special and to show how much we love and appreciate them. Our wedding favors were all homemade and handpicked, from spicy pickles to strawberry jam. We put our hearts into it! And now we have weekly requests from friends and family to continue canning for them. If I could sum up our wedding in the fewest words possible I would choose: sophisticated, fabulous, intimate, and over the moon happy!
