From Kelly Marie Photography... Although I am based out of Lodi, California, I spent many years of my life in the Pacific Northwest. The environment and people of Bainbridge Island, Washington are what shaped me into the person I am today. It is this town where I realized I wanted photography to be more than a hobby. Because of this, I wanted to take what inspires me about the PNW and share it with others.
Yes, Washington has a reputation for rain. However, I chose to design my shoot based off the golden light that shines through the forest. I loved the feel of mixing golds with the earthy greens and browns. Practically all the props used are vintage, from the candlesticks to the gold glass buttons adorning the moss. Moss and ferns are a part of everyday life on Bainbridge, so I embraced these plants. It is these ferns along with the wild foxgloves that make up the bouquet (plus baby's breath because who doesn't love baby's breath!). The brownie cakes were made with vintage molds and drizzled with a powdered sugar icing. The candles are a lovely DIY element; the candles were bought at the dollar store, and then I painted on gold sparkles to fade to the top. I love how the sparkles captured the light! I also chose to hint towards the weather of Washington with the lyric "Like the rain, I have fallen for you." These words were painted on leaves with gold paint.
I hope you enjoy these photos and are inspired by them. I had a wonderful model, Samantha, and the beautiful natural setting of Bainbridge Island.
