It’s a festive day in the good ol’ U S of A, and this whisky tasting bridal shower shoot just seems to be a perfect fit to keep that celebration going. Shot by Jessica Hendrix with gorgeous florals and design from Papertini, this gallery is great way to toast to America today. Cheers!
From Papertini…This shoot was a collaboration that arose during a conversation about providing urban foodie brides with inspiration for alternative, unique bridal shower ideas. We immediately glossed over the ideas of overdone themes (ahem, wine tastings), and thought it would be fun to do a whiskey tasting instead. After all, why should whiskey be reserved for men in sport coats with cigars? We wanted to show a group of sophisticated urban women enjoying the brown liquor with class in celebration of their dear friend’s upcoming nuptial.
We connected with The Twisted Tail, located in Old City, Philadelphia. This ultra hip restaurant and bourbon bar has a healthy pork obsession which is reflected in their name, menu, and decor. The two story space, outfitted with unique details such as music sheet wallpaper, barrel hightops, electric guitars on the walls, baby blue leather tufted chairs, and a shuffle board, was the perfect space for a hip unique soiree. The Twisted Tail provided the amazing spread of cheese and finger foods as well as the “whiskey flight tree” where the girls were able to sample different varieties of whiskey. The whiskey tasting score card and beautiful bridal shower invitation was created by Paper Rock Scissors. They also created a keepsake box for the bride which had the bride and groom’s initial wood burned on the top with a copy of the invitation and small whiskey bottle inside to commemorate the theme of the event.
We meticulously brought together all the elements for the favor table, soda table, and main table. The food on the main table were set upon wood slabs and a table runner made from gold doilies. Rather than overwhelming the table with tons of flowers, we went with foliage varieties to let the food and whiskey take center stage. The soda table had strawberry and cream flavors, provided by Foam Floaterie, which we displayed in small glass bottles and labeled with sticker chalkboard labels. For the favor table, we displayed mini whiskey bottles and macaroons to be taken by the guests in kraft milk carton boxes. To reiterate the whiskey theme, we used empty whiskey bottles as candle holders. We took much care in the details such as the whiskey score card board (which we custom made!), scorecard box, signage on the soda and favor table (also custom made in-house), and the “date night book.” Instead of a traditional guest book, we custom created this date night book where guests write their date night recommendations for the couple based on the page theme. We kept the overall color scheme simple with punches of black and gold for the urban sophisticated feel.
