Elegant Blush + Black Saint Petersburg Wedding

When K and K Photography sends a little something our way, a happy dance is in order. We love them for their light-hearted, fresh approach to weddings and for snapping them up so beautifully. So it comes as no surprise that we're head over heels for this blush pink Florida fete. Not only are the details spot on, but the moments will melt your heart. See every pretty bit folded into this elegant affair here.

From the Bride & Groom... We met in college at the University of Florida in 2007. When we moved back from college a few years later, we both knew we wanted to move back to our hometown and live as close to the ocean as we possibly could. After dating for 7 years, we got engaged in Anna Maria Island in the Spring of 2013. As we started planning our wedding, we definitely knew we wanted it to be by the water. However, after scouting several locations, we quickly realized we didn't want a "toes in the sand" wedding because we wanted a slightly more formal feel than that. We didn't want a super fancy wedding, but we didn't want it to be too causal either.

We also struggled with being at that age where EVERY one of our friends is getting married or has gotten married, so it was hard to find a wedding venue that we haven't already celebrated another wedding at. So when we found the Birchwood (before it had even opened its doors!) it was the perfect fit-a large enough space to hold our 150 guests- that was fresh and modern, yet still felt "boutiquey" and unique. Even though it wasn't ON the beach, it has large windows and a private balcony with awesome views of the water, Beach Drive, and Downtown St. Petersburg. We also knew we wanted to have the ceremony outside with a garden feel, so the Vinoy's Tea Garden was the perfect venue and within walking distance to the Birchwood.

We tried to make our wedding soft, romantic, and elegant. We used lots and lots of mercury glass which Katie collected in different sizes and textures for almost a year. Our colors were mostly blush and ivory, yet the bridesmaids wore black for a classic look. Kyle loves fishing so we tried to integrate some fishing details into our big day, such as our "one less fish in the sea" koozies and favors, which were our favorite candy: gummy fish.

We had several DIY elements such as the mirrored and chalkboard table numbers which Katie and her mom made themselves. All of the place cards were handwritten by Katie's mom. Another chalkboard touch was the bridal party sign displayed at the ceremony, which the couple designed and had made on Etsy, then framed it themselves. We also had a friend in the promotional business make us some amazing party sunglasses, which made their way out late in the evening when the dancing got going. Those were a huge hit! (I actually think K&K might have left before they came out so you might not have any pictures of this.)

Our wedding day ended up being everything we wanted and so much more!
