So, I am sort of obsessed with fall weddings. Especially ones like this gorgeous Lake Placid affair, a wedding that combines rustic and romantic in the most beautiful of ways. It’s lush florals from Renaissance Floral Design meets the crazy coolness of Lake Placid Lodge meets one beautiful moment after another captured by Tracey Buyce. In other words? It’s the epitome of rustic elegance. See for yourself right here.
And a beautiful film from Nuvue Cinema… enjoy, lovelies.

From the Bride… We first crossed paths when we started working together. It was an instant connection. Within just a few short weeks, we both just knew. It helped that we were working together nearly 20 hours a day, seven days a week! Only a few months later we were living together and knew that it would be forever. Kevin had convinced me that we were not going to get engaged yet, because there were a lot of other things going on in their lives. He tricked me. The day after Thanksgiving 2012, we drove together up to Lake Placid Lodge in Lake Placid, New York. We had stayed there a few times earlier and absolutely loved the place. Kevin had originally planned to propose to me in London, but then, forgetting how old he has become, he broke his foot and tore his knee in a “friendly” game of flag football. By the time we made it up to Lake Placid, we could walk, but only just. I would later remark that Kevin was particularly quiet on the ride up. That’s because he had a whole plan in place. We were going to go to a great dinner in the lodge, and then return to the room to roses, champagne and a diamond ring. The only problem is, Kevin has never been good at waiting. And he couldn’t wait any longer. So, right before we went to dinner, Kevin called me over to him and told me that he had one more piece of jewelry for me to wear to dinner, as long as I agreed to something first. Then, down on hobbled knee, he asked me to marry him. Much screaming ensued. Eventually, I stopped hyperventilating and said yes!! To my surprise, Kevin had already set an appointment the following day with the wedding coordinator at the Lodge. By the end of that meeting, we had picked a date and knew we would be married there the following fall. Everything fell into place very quickly after that. I spent an hour and a half one night speaking with our amazing photographer, Tracey Buyce. She recommended the dream team of wedding vendors, which ultimately included John and Will from NuVue and the incomparable David Michael Schmidt from Renaissance Floral. Together with Greta Hovland from the Lodge, they made everything so easy and so perfect. The wedding itself was a three day affair. We brought 90 of our closest family and friends up to the Lodge and treated it like our home. The first few days we embraced the rustic Adirondack spirit of the lodge for celebrations and rehearsal dinners. But, on the day of the wedding, we wanted something different. David Michael Schmidt delivered by transforming the space into a wedding sanctuary. He brought in flowers we thought would be impossible to get at that time of year, and worked his magic in each of the many spaces that we used throughout the night as we moved from ceremony, to cocktails, to dinner and ultimately to dancing with our fantastic live band. All in all, we could not have asked for a better wedding. Our family and friends still rave about the entire experience, and we will have those memories forever. We can’t thank our team enough for making it happen.Photography: Tracey Buyce Photography | Videography: NuVue Cinema | Wedding Planner: Christine A.
