When both the Bride and Groom work for Etsy, you KNOW their nuptials will be crafted from the heart. Complete with paper goods designed by the B&G themselves, bright bloomage from Poppies & Posies, and a killer dessert spread by One Girl Cookies, this Brooklyn boathouse wedding is everything you’d expert…plus then some. Lindsay Hite of READYLUCK didn’t miss a beat, it’s all sitting pretty right here.
From Ready Luck Photography…Elana & Amit met during their Freshman year of college at New York University. On June 9, 2013, after 14 years of dating, they decided to tie the knot in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY. They were married at the Boathouse in Prospect Park, just a few blocks away from their apartment.
Prospect Park is a particularly special place to Elana & Amit, so they took inspiration from the park and the history of the Boathouse when designing their wedding. Elana, a Designer and Founder of Mélangerie, created all the paper goods for the wedding with hearty production assistance from Amit, also a maker at heart (both Elana and Amit work at Etsy ) Details included handmade paper peonies for each invitation, programs fashioned as “field guides” to reference the Boathouse’s Audobon legacy, and letterpress floral coaster favors (from Sesame Letterpress) that did double duty as place cards thanks to lovely calligraphed tags by Paperfinger.
The ceremony was outdoors, dockside on the boathouse lake, and featured lots of personal touches, like a variation on the traditional Jewish “7 blessings,” each interpreted and read by a family member, and Elana & Amit’s golden retriever Teddy as the “flower boy,” escorted down the aisle by the bride’s brother. The bride & groom were married under a modern, floral chuppa created by Poppies & Posies, and guests shaded themselves from the afternoon sun with peppered parasols and paper fans.
The celebration continued with an family-style lunch at a single long table filling the width of the boathouse. The french doors were open to the patio, letting in the early summer weather and creating a laid back garden party vibe. Peonies were the focus of fabulous floral centerpieces and garlands created by Poppies & Posies, and guests were serenaded to the jazz tunes of Michael Arenella & his Dreamland Orchestra.
Elana & Amit’s favorite meal is dessert, so of course, the day ended with a spread of their favorite cakes and cookies from One Girl Cookies, Four & Twenty Blackbirds and BklynLarder.
