A candlelight-filled reception at the Gramercy Park Hotel just might be my favorite way to celebrate. All at once totally glamorous and completely intimate, it’s garden party meets traditional in one of NYC’s most storied locations. Add in some gorgeous paper goods from Hartford Prints!, the perfect stylings of Lovely Day Styling & Events and pretty, pretty captures from Katie Slater Photography and, well… happy Friday, lovelies. See it here.
From The Bride… We knew from the start we wanted our wedding to be small and intimate — a low-key celebration, so that we could enjoy the moment without feeling overwhelmed or spread too thin. And neither of us wanted to spend months and months planning! We imagined an intimate, elegant dinner with our loved ones, where we could enjoy each other’s company, listen to good music, and share in a delicious meal together. We knew we wanted to get married in New York City, the place we called home for over a decade, and where we met and fell in love. And we wanted a venue with a little city glam, but a cozy, relaxed vibe.
When we walked into the Gramercy Park Hotel at the suggestion of my sister, it was love at first site. I think it may have been the fireplace and aroma of cedar in the lobby that initially won us over, but the entire space was gorgeous. It felt glamorous without being over the top, and the location–next to Gramercy Park–was perfect for a fall wedding.
We ultimately decided to have the wedding on the rooftop terrace at the hotel and worked with the incredible Michelle Condon who helped with everything from the set-up to the menu. Once we had the venue finalized, I realized there were a lot of other details to figure out, but I had no idea where to begin. Lovely Day Styling & Events helped us find amazing vendors that fit our budget and our vision. We wanted the flowers and table scape to have a romantic and organic feel– Jakkelyn Iris Designs nailed it and created the most stunning arrangements. We wanted a photographer who could capture the two of us and our guests in special candid moments, and Katie Slater Photography did a fantastic job. Hartford Prints! designed an invitation suite that was simple and sophisticated with a touch of gold, and Butler’s Pantry (an Etsy find!) created the most lovely calligraphed place cards and outer envelopes. Last but not least, City Sweets made the most delicious gluten-free cake for us!
We had a special day filled with family and close friends, amazing food, a little bit of sparkle, and the soulful romantic sounds of some of our favorite artists like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and Sinatra. We are grateful to the team of talented people who helped make it happen, and who flawlessly handled all the details so we could enjoy the day.
