A Canadian Mountain Wedding by Rhys Albrecht Photography
There's no denying it—when the stunning Bride is a wedding planner and owner of Created Lovely Events, her wedding is bound to be as lovely as it gets. Not to mention, her handsome groom just so happens to be a ski and wedding photographer! So a perfectly planned mountain soiree was in the cards for these two lovebirds from the start. With Rhys Albrecht Photography behind the lens, you're invited to one of the prettiest galleries around.
From the beautiful Bride, Nicole of Created Lovely Events… Our wedding day was nothing short of amazing. The planning was a little more stressful than I had hoped, but I was both a wedding planner and a bride marrying my wedding photographer fiance and was feeling a teensy bit of pressure. We decided that we were going to make our wedding as true to us as possible. That way we'd never feel the need to compare our wedding to any others we worked, and I can honestly say that was the best thing we did in regards to planning.
Let's start with the venue. Royce is both a ski and wedding photographer (a man of many talents I'd say) and since he did contract ski photography for Revelstoke Mountain Resort his photos were on all of the lift passes. Conveniently making it the perfect surprise on our wedding day for me to run the gondola for all of our guests up to the reception, and him receiving a cute custom lift pass to find out! Revelstoke is also Royce's hometown and where he learned to ski at age 2 by his late father. His dad clearly made an appearance at our wedding by lifting the heavy down pour of rain just in time for our ceremony and shining the most incredible God rays for the rest of the afternoon.
On the morning of the wedding, my girls and I got ready in Plum Pretty Sugar robes while my mom (also a make-up artist) did our make-up. With 30 out of the 100 guests being wedding vendors, there was little stressing left for Royce and I. We were well taken care of and so thankful for all those that helped when the rain looked like it just wasn't going to let up.
During our ceremony we exchanged rings engraved with Mount Begbie, the mountains in the background of our ceremony. Our married guests were asked to stand before our vows to recommit their own. Our pastor led as the husbands and wives held hands and exchanged "I do's". It was one of my favourite moments of our ceremony though I'm sure I could barely process it over my own excitement.
Our guests and bridal party took the gondola up to the reception and then enjoyed an abundance of local draft beer, a burger and poutine bar, and cupcakes. Since the reception was held in the mid-mountain lodge of the ski hill, we used the cafeteria to our advantage and embraced the idea of a burger bar. And I'm so glad we did. It was delicious!
The night ended with shot skis, dancing, and celebrations with family and friends. It was truly our dream wedding from start to finish. No others will compare (but don't hold me to that... I'm kind of smitten with my clients weddings right now!).
P.S.- You may notice the maid of honour from this wedding! My sister's wedding made an SMP appearance this past September in Vancouver. xo
