Vintage Glamour Wedding in Woodinville

We love a good vintage wedding and this gorgeous bride pulled it off perfectly. The rich, wine-drenched color palate added some zest while the vivid florals from Maxine’s Floral and the era-appropriate veil from La Belle Elaine’s really tied the whole aesthetic together. From Catalina Jean Photography… I’m really excited to share this unique Washington wedding with SMP. It was filled with love and so many pretty details. From the gorgeous rings from Tiffany’s to the Manolo Blahnik shoes to the fun color palette giving ode to the groom’s alma mater, University of WA. The venue featured dozens of gorgeous chandeliers, rustic brick walls, and views of the Woodinville vineyards. The first look took place in front of an abandoned garden greenhouse with portraits in a pretty open field.

From the bride…1. What was the inspiration for your wedding?

The inspiration for our wedding was vintage and romantic.  We wanted to incorporate everything we love from wine, Woodinville and Bernie’s Alma Mater, University of Washington.  The colors are modified husky colors so we can incorporate a romantic feel.  The Hollywood school house in Woodinville is vintage.  The brick is beautiful and the structure on its own is romantic.

2. Any DIY/budget elements?

We decorated the center pieces, and tea lights.  The two wine barrels were refinished by Victoria and are used as our alter/ceremony flowers.  Part of the invitations was done by us, and the photo booth is a gift from Bernardo’s generous employers.

3. Tell us about finding your wedding dress.

Finding my wedding dress was special because my mom was there.   I had a lot of important women there to help me find my dress, my mom, an Aunt Cathy and cousin Lina, my Cousin Cynthia and her daughter who is the flower girl, my brothers girlfriend.  It was a great day.  Although, trying on wedding dresses is not for the weak.  It is exhausting.  I tried on over 10 dresses, and I was exhausted.  When I found the dress I knew.  It was different that other wedding dressing I have seen.  I did not think I would have the reaction I did.  I actually cried. But I did and it was a beautiful experience, and to share with so many wonderful women in my life, it was priceless.

4. What are the musical choices for your wedding?

For the Bride:  Make You Feel My Love- Adele. Recessional:  Happy- Pharell Williams. First Dance:  Waiting for my Real Life to Begin- Colin Hay.

5. What was your favorite detail of the day?

My favorite detail (other than the groom) was the involvement and presence of our family and friends. From my cousin officiating the ceremony, Bernardo’s uncle and Aunt blessing our marriage and having most of our siblings in the ceremony one way or another whether being apart of the bridal party or doing the honor of reading our favorite childhood excerpts. It felt like love…it was overwhelming, warm and it set the atmosphere of our day. It was an amazing the feeling the guest, family and friends can give us.

6. What was your most memorable moment at the wedding?

The most memorable moment of the wedding was the first look. We choose to do the first look before the wedding because it was an intimate moment I wanted between Bernardo and I. It was special and memorable. It also gave us time too just be with each other before all the demanding responsibilities of the bride and groom.

7. What advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding

The best advice we could give to a couple planning a wedding is to have the time of your life on your wedding day.  This will lead to other items below, but first and foremost make sure that you and your bride/groom are stress-free and care-free from the moment you wake up to the moment your head hits the pillow.  This is a once in a lifetime experience so as much as possible limit any nuisances that may come up the day of that may deter from an enjoyable experience. So how do you do this?  First, any pre-wedding scheduling and budget planning that can be done in advance, do!  With regard to scheduling, know as much as possible what is going to happen and when it’s going to happen the day of the wedding.  Sometimes vendors like DJ’s have these pre-created for you…use it. Finally with regard to budgeting, try to stick as much as possible to an agreed upon number.  Typically, there is will be give and take on certain items (i.e. DIY flowers versus custom arrangements, etc), but it’s important to know what you can and can’t afford beforehand.  Additionally, plan to make normal payments on the big ticket items.  This will make the “week of” payment smaller and less stressful.  There is also the perspective that early drinking will massage the stresses of the day away.  While that may be the case for the short-time, planning and having a clear head will last longer and definitely be more satisfying.

8. Where are you going on your honeymoon?

We are planning on going to Spain/Greece/ Paris for our honeymoon.  But that will not happen for another year.  We want something else to look forward to and share with each other.
