Inspired by the tale of Sleeping Beauty and the new Disney movie Malificent, out today in theaters, this group of industry experts set out to craft a wedding that gives a whole new meaning to the term Happily Ever After. It’s a gorgeous display of classic fairytale-esque details crafted by Availendar + lush florals by Black Dahlia and imagery by Allan Zepeda that showcase a moody meets whimsical affair. See it here.
From Availendar… Once upon a time we were inspired by the new Disney film Malificent, and collaborated with an incredible team of vendors to create this Sleeping Beauty styled shoot full of dripping wax, moody florals and whimsical details. We truly feel summer weddings can have a dark and mysterious side as well. This inspiration shoot reminds us that a sultry and, dare-we-say enchanting, evening can also be romantic and beautiful. We promise that no one will be falling asleep at a wedding like this!
The Green Building in Brooklyn gave us the perfect canvas for our vision with their stunning chandeliers and raw, open space while the incredible Allan Zepeda captured the beauty of each and every detail. To top it off, the talented Rajiv Surendra of Letters in Ink created a wonderful chalkboard backdrop inspired by gothic architecture. We added in an antique spinning wheel and vintage wood spool candlesticks to complete the look. The entire concept was tied together with storybook-inspired invitations and wooden spool place cards from Loon & CO.
The brilliant ladies of Black Dahlia Design created the perfect centerpieces with a combination of florals in rich jewel tones with accents of dusty rose and peach, as well as touches of fresh blackberries and figs. Our delicious desserts from Emily of Lael Cakes also included these fruits. Emily created a three-tiered chocolate cake with espresso and blackberry filling along with several fruit tarts that would wake up any Sleeping Beauty.
For our very own Princess Aurora, we chose an enchanting gown by Paolo Sebastian from Nearly Newlywed, BHLDN jewelry and shoes, as well as an intricate golden rose hairpiece by Hushed Commotion. Our dashing Prince Phillip was dressed in a custom Anchor Gray suit from Sene.
We toasted the end of the day with a custom Black Magnolia cocktail from Liquid Lab… And they lived Happily Ever After.
