This beach fete from VOWS Wedding & Event Planning is giving me a serious dose of happiness today. And the gorgeous peach, pink and coral palette is to blame. Mimicking the beautiful Maui sunset, it really doesn’t get much prettier than this. Lay your eyes on every glowing moment right here in the gallery from Azzura Photography!
From VOWS Wedding & Event Planning… Seattle couple Dana & Jeremy Camden wed before the famous Maui sunset on December 10, 2013 at beautiful Olowalu Plantation House in front of 40 of their nearest and dearest.
The bridal party consisted of 4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen and one adorable 2-year-old ring bearer, the nephew of the bride. The ceremony and dinner/dancing reception were both onsite. The meal was plated and included local fare. Beer & wine were offered tableside and at the bar. The layout consisted of rectangular kings’ tables vs. the usual rounds. All the traditions were incorporated including toasts, ceremonial cake cutting, 1st Dance, Parent Dances and the night ended with an energetic dance party thanks to the fabulous DJ Scott!
Dana & Jeremy were intent on getting out of the rain and stress that a city wedding brings…especially when you’re in the wedding industry yourself! Dana had worked in the Fairmont Seattle catering department for several years and had seen her fair share of weddings…and Bridezillas! She was determined not to be one. She also knew what she did and didn’t want in terms of vendors, décor and flow – no pressure on her planner! ;-)
The ceremony was simply set with light wood Chiavari chairs and bamboo canopy set kiddy corner on the property to maximize the view and ensure the perfect palm tree was overhead for photos. The Groom’s Dad Jim Camden officiated the ceremony, so the words were personal, meaningful, and joyous.
For the reception, we played off the oh-so popular vintage/rustic trend, but with a Hawaiian flair. Peaches, corals, pinks and ivories with hints of green was the chosen palette. The talented Mandy Grace incorporated amaryllis, garden & spray roses, dusty miller, ranunculi and 2 types of orchids in the bouquets and centerpieces. Long burlap runners were a base for wood boxes filled with overflowing floral and small mercury glass containers offered candle-light and a glitter to the tables throughout the evening.
A Manzanita branch arrangement served as the “Well Wishes” station where guests were encouraged to write on and hang tags upon the tree. The seating chart was written on a mirror that reflected the spectacular views off the beach. The cake was a beautifully modern design with a textured drag pattern all the way up each of the three, round tiers. To complete the look, it was adorned with garden roses and a wreath of lush hydrangea at the base.
The surprise and humor of the night came when Bride Dana surprised her groom with his favorite treat: the Double Stuff Oreo! The groom was presented with a groom’s cake made of a tower of his favorite cookie. He went right for it and dug right in!
