The very second we got our hands on Charlotte Balbier’s English manor nuptials, we knew we were sitting on gold. As one of Britain’s biggest names in bridal design, there was no question her own wedding would be perfect, but the photos from Polly Alexandre…they’re basically one gasping moment after another. Not to mention the work of Red Floral Architecture, Cakes By Kristhanthi, and so many more. Get ready to squeal, because this is a day is straight from the storybooks.
And don’t dare miss the day on film from the fabulous, Silk Weddings!

From Polly Alexandre… Charlotte Balbier celebrates her 10th year as a leading British bridal designer, and it’s not the only reason it’s one of the most exciting times in her life….this same year she also married her own true love Teddy, and after creating dreams for thousands of other brides on their big day, Charlotte got to create her own dream wedding. From a family of bridal designers, Charlotte created a wedding that is the very essence of her brand, a feminine yet glamorous vision, filled with beautiful details. Charlotte & Teddy are truly two peas in a pod, a perfect match and it was truly amazing to see them become husband and wife.
From the Bride… Just over 3 years ago I met my now husband Teddy and after a whirlwind romance he proposed just 6 months after meeting. From the moment we got engaged together we planned our dream wedding day as we both wanted it to be a celebration of our love and a day both our guests and ourselves would never forget.
Being a bridal designer I am already exposed to all the beautiful and vast variety of options, styles and looks you can have for your wedding and I did already have in mind what style I wanted for our wedding. My vision was glamorous, feminine with a timeless elegance, I adore pink and gold shades so I knew this had to me my colour palette. Teddy also had some set ideas, but he was more about the entertainment side of affairs, his main objective was to ensure all our guests had fun.
Over my career I have been lucky enough to work with some of the most respected and well known suppliers in the industry so choosing who I wanted on board was easy. We chose the idyllic iscoyd park set on the Cheshire/Welsh boarders that provided the most stunning back drop for our beautiful day. What I loved about Iscoyd park was not only is it beautiful and stylish with it’s interiors designed by Suzy Hoodles but the team at Iscoyd are amazing too. We chose to get married at the local church just a 5 minute drive from Iscoyd, what I love about both Iscoyd and the church is the history behind them both, so romantic, beautiful and interesting.
I very much wanted my bridal party to feel special and worked closely with each bridesmaid (all 8 of them) to design and create bespoke gowns to suit their style and personality, I styled all the gowns with lace clutch bags, heels and vintage cuffs with a glamorous marabou fur wrap. I wanted them to look and feel Red carpet ready and they certainly did, so fabulous. The 2 little flower girls also had bespoke dresses and looked adorable and not forgetting the boys who all had Navy Blue suits styled with rich Brown leather accessories and striped ties. Teddy wore a customised Hugo Boss suit and tie, so dapper.
When turning my attentions to designing my own gown style I opted for 2 gowns and styled them both with heels and gorgeous accessories. My day gown was a silk organza full ball gown skirt with a deep French lace trim. Fitted to the natural waist with a sash and flower detail. Bodice was fitted and boned with a sheer tulle neckline and ¾ sleeves. The train was a cathedral length with diamante buttons all the way down. Zip fastening and an oversized hand tied bow. The gown was all ivory and I styled it with a long silk veil, Freya Rose heels and a vintage clutch bag.
For the evening I changed into a small A line skirt with godet fit and flair. A exquisite French lace fabric with a small spot tulle over a soft Champagne satin. Fitted to the natural waist with a pearl and diamante beaded belt detail. The gown was completed with a cap sleeve, Jimmy Choo metallic heels and a pearl and diamante clutch.
With Teddy’s love for music and entertainment we had 4 sets of live entertainment throughout the day, gypsy style bands, magicians, classic disco DJ’s and even the world famous DJ legend Graeme Park played a set…. this was amazing. Our guests danced until the early hours.
We both have lasting memory’s from our wedding day but the one we both agree is most special to us is the 1st moment we saw each other as I entered the church, I gave Teddy a little wave and smile and he beamed back and this was a beautiful moment. Our wedding day was magical, romantic, fun, beautiful and perfect.
