One thing I’ve learned that determines so, so much about a wedding, is the guest list. And when your first choice destination is a bit of a reach for your nearest and dearest, well, you bring a little slice of the locale you love to you. That’s exactly what this Nantucket-loving couple did with the help of Bliss Wedding & Event Design and they did it oh-so-well. See what I mean in the gorg gallery from Novia Distinctive Photography and don’t miss the touching film from Epic Motion!

From the Bride… Nantucket Island has always been a special place in our relationship, so, when Patrick asked me to marry him out at Wauawinet we immediately began dreaming of a big Nantucket wedding. However, we soon realized that if we were to choose Nantucket as our destination few of our friends and family would be able to attend. As much as Nantucket held a piece of our hearts, we knew that our wedding would mean nothing without those we love surrounding us. We decided to bring Nantucket to Columbus Ohio – my home town. At first, we weren’t sure that we could bring the magic back home with us, but once we met with Kasey at Bliss our vision of a romantic Nantucket garden wedding began to unfold.
Ohio ended up being the perfect location. After getting married at St Paul Church (my childhood parish) we took a short ride over to New Albany Country Club to have our reception. Our jaws dropped at how beautifully our vision had come together. The clear top tent, the lanterns, the cake, and the flowers all worked together in such a soft and romantic way. We were able to include small touches that meant so much to us. My great-grandmother’s handkerchief as a bouquet wrap, a bow tie for our dog Buckeye, Patrick’s White Elephant (a Nantucket hotel) cuff links, pictures of our parents on their wedding days, and marriage advice from my fourth grade class made our day feel even more personal.
We wouldn’t have changed a thing – the wedding reflected who we are as a couple. Patrick and I often wish we could go back and relive our wedding again and again. Surrounded by beautiful hydrangeas, the people we love, and soft lights, we felt like we were having a truly perfect Nantucket night.
