Peachy Summer Wedding on Thetis Island
We think peach is a particularly great color for summer weddings (and a particularly delicious party favor for guests, too). But besides making us hungry, this beautiful wedding on Thetis Island is definitely giving us the warm and fuzzy feelings which is what weddings are all about, right? Whitney Krutzfeldt was there to capture the sunny and fun-loving ceremony, and you can find more right here.
From the Bride... Thetis Island is a southern gulf island off of Vancouver Island where our wedding venue Overbury Resort was located. The 14 acre waterfront property was a magical setting for our country/rustic/vintage themed wedding. Accommodations on the property consisted of 9 classic west coast cottages and an elegant heritage suite in the 100 year old manor house, all which sat only steps from the beach and were surrounded by the rugged west coast forest.
When planning our wedding we wanted the weekend to be fun and for our guests to feel as though they were away on vacation too. We kicked the weekend festivities off with a welcome bbq on the friday night (custom beer koozies included). More then half our guests stayed on property so they could enjoy the picturesque setting and beach Saturday while the wedding party was busy getting pampered.
Getting ready in the morning with all my favourite ladies was something I'll never forget. Having everyone stay together at the wedding venue allowed for time pampering with not only my bridesmaids but my Mother, Mother in law, Grandma and my brothers girlfriends. It was so much fun.
The Ceremony started at 4pm and my oldest brother was officiating it. He made us laugh and feel at ease throughout one of the biggest moments of our lives. My other brother contributed by taking the ladies arms as they walked down the stairs to the aisle and he was also our signing register. It meant a lot to me to have them both be an important part of our special day.
The Cocktail hour from what I hear was lots of fun (while we were off taking pictures). There were ice cold beer which filled up a vintage claw foot bath tub, bocce on the lawn, and a variety of hot and cold appetizers prepared by the catering team at Overbury Resort. All under a Marquee tent which helped shade guests from the beaming sunshine. It was such a beautiful hot July Summer day.
The Reception was shortly after and took place in the beautiful pavilion with windows and french doors that opened up to a breath taking beautiful ocean island view. Guests were given the "key to their seat" which led them to a peach with their name on it at their assigned table. The flowers were vibrant and full of peach tones, placed in mason jars on rustic wood slabs with burlap table runners.
I did most of the decor myself and thoroughly enjoyed all the makings of each and every little detail leading up to the special day. I have to credit a lot of the ideas to Pinterest, and Etsy and I have Arlene the wedding planner (and owner at Overbury Resort) and her staff to thank for creating all the beautiful flower arrangements, food and cake. Looking back on the day, I still feel as if it were a dream. Magical is the perfect word to describe our wedding weekend and we have Overbury Resort to thank for it. Our talented photographer Whitney Krutzfeldt did an amazing job capturing every moment of our special day. We can't thank her enough for all her hard work and all the photos which we will cherish for years to come.
