Mabel and Tom are hands-down one of the coolest couples you’ll ever (virtually) meet. Tom, a certified rockstar a part of Sum 41, and Mabel a doctor with a serious streak for DIY crafting tied the knot with a wedding that’s spunky and stylish and ALL kinds of fun. Khaki Bedford made sure no detail went un-captured and you can click right here for soooooo much more.
From Khaki Bedford Photography… On November 4, 2013 a doctor and a rock star (of Sum 41) and were wed at the New York Academy of Medicine Library among the leather bound medical books in a spectacular and creative wedding. Mabel wore a dress custom designed by one of her bridesmaids, who happens to be the founder of Honor. The dress was strapless and made up of layers of tulle and appliqued paillettes. The groom wore his grandfather’s fedora. The DIY bride spared no detail from the hand-drawn invitation to the escort cards to the custom matches to the vintage-inspired cake table, adorned with tassel garlands and colorful 1950s cake-toppers. Pennant flags transformed the academic library into a playful ceremony and reception space.
Prior to the ceremony the wedding party took pictures at the Central Park Conservatory Garden across the street from NYAM. In addition to some beautiful portraits around the garden, there were shots of the couple and the bridal party with mylar letter balloons, and light writing with sparklers. After the ceremony the bride and groom were showered in colorful confetti (hand-cut by the bride and groom). Given the couple’s love of travel and the mixing of their two cultures, vintage postcards depicting faraway lands, NYC, and endearing phrases in Chinese and English were strung on twine and hung over the card catalog for guests to admire during the cocktail hour. During this time, guests were also encouraged to sign the guestbook by writing on a library card and snapping a polaroid to tuck in a cardholder.
Friends and family were entertained and moved by sweet and humorous toasts by both of their parents, followed by first dances. Everyone danced all night to the DJ’s tunes and snuck in some fun polaroid, and photobooth shots between songs.
