A Monochromatic Inspired Wedding Shoot – Part II

First we shared with you the beautiful monochromatic inspired engagement dreamed up by Carmen Santorelli, Oak & The Owl along with day of coordination by Twine Events . And now we’re diving into the full wedding inspiration. It’s ripe with layers of texture and neutrals plus a cake line-up by Hey There, Cupcake! so dreamy, it deserves a shoot all its own. From Nancy of the Oak and the Owl…I made sure to focus on incorporating rough lines and nuanced details – which could also be used to describe the gown. With such a soft color palette, it’s easy to create a look that is too sweet. Because of that I brought in various leather elements, assorted stones and quartz, surface treated Italian linen, flowing dusty rose fabric for a runner on a pale wood farmhouse table, rosette textured linen paired with a bare farmhouse highboy, sequined linen in nude with Victoria ghost chairs so there was just an illusion of form. I wanted the details to be subtle but with a lot of visual interest when paired together.

We were lucky to have found a gem of a location at Vista Valley Country Club. The new owners are completely remodeling the club and have brought in original antique details from Europe. Huge carved wood fireplace mantels, Art Nouveau wood doors for the private dining room, custom stone detailing on the outside rotunda and inside the entrance, and a gorgeous patinaed gate that opens to their outdoor venue. This gate takes you to a stunningly beautiful ceremony location across from the club where we set up one of our tablescapes, as well as a ceremony. This outdoor area is surrounded by huge oak trees creating a natural canopy, and the whole space has a somewhat magical feel to it. It is very romantic, and when you’re there you feel as though you’ve been taken away from the day to day. Kind of like a secret garden.

In that space there’s a large pergola you can be married under. As well as using it as a ceremony space, Twine Events and I brought in the new farmhouse table from Signature Party Rentals and placed it underneath the pergola as an idea for a reception. For the tablescape we used plates, glassware, and flatware from The Vintage Table Co. which were a perfect addition. Not too vintage and feminine, but just the right about amount of delicate detail in subtle white and gold. Down the center of the table I placed a dusty rose fabric runner that puddled on either side. Then I put a wild seeded eucalyptus garland with blooms tucked in on top, with a large compote centerpiece, assorted brass candlesticks with ivory candles, gold mercury votives, along with pink and beige rocks and quartz. Erica of Twine Events and I worked on each place setting where we set an iridescent Italian linen napkin with Aerialist Press’s amazing leather menus. We also placed AP’s name cards at each place setting on a flat polished stone with a smaller stone on top. Layering texture and subtle color the whole way through. Another leather detail I designed was having a seating chart written in gold calligraphy on the suede side of a cow hide. Twinkle and Toast did an amazing job on the layout and calligraphy. It couldn’t have been an easy job and she made it look effortless. All the paper and written goods worked beautifully together and Aerialist Press’s invites were perfect.

We also had a sweetheart table placed in the front rotunda using La Tavola’s Brooklyn linen in nude. The same elements which were on the farmhouse table were also placed on the sweetheart. I wanted to show how you can pair more rustic pieces with subtly luxurious linens for an interesting look and feel to your event. Wanting to show off Signature Party Rentals new farmhouse collection, we brought in their tall cocktail table and placed it next to a highboy with the Amelia linen in Stone from La Tavola. The same idea can be used with the sequins. Alternating table surface and texture creates visual interest and makes a monochromatic color scheme more intriguing.

Finishing off the monochromatic look were three incredible cakes from Hey There Cupcake. Stevi used the idea of texture and layering to make the details pop on her amazing works of art. The light blush coloring was perfect with the entire aesthetic. And last but not least, Carmen’s stunning photographs captured everything so beautifully. Her photographs are pieces of art and I’m so happy she and I had our original conversation to end with this final product.
