Elegant Philadelphia Country Club Wedding
The best way to describe this Philly affair? Classic with a twist. A gorgeous, pop of hot pink twist, to be specific. Morrissey Photo captured this wildly elegant labor of love, and just in case you want more we've got a WHOLE gallery waiting right here.
From the Bride... The inspiration for our wedding was to really capture the past, present and future and Dave and My life. To really make it about the important and special things in our lives. My mother had my clutch made out of my grandmother's wedding dress and a brooch she used to wear. My grandmother passed away two years ago so this was really special for me to have a part of her there. I also was wearing her wedding ring. I had all my bridesmaids belts made by one of my vendors who i worked with when i was a buyer. This was a special touch to make their dresses unique and a nod to my job.
All of the flowers were done by my uncle. The flower company has been in my mother's family for 3 generations now. On the candy table, we brought candy from South Africa and Pittsburgh to share a part of our background. There was a Steeler's helmet cake for Dave's love of the team and our cake was made from a friend of ours who is a master pastry chef at the top restaurant in Philadelphia called R2L. The cake stand even came from New Orleans. We had wine brought in from South Africa, and on each table we had wine notes detailing the trip Dave and I took there with my family and about each wine. The men got dressed at the shooting lodge while the women got dressed at my parent's house. We had our monogram on everything, the menu, seating cards, programs, on the wall and napkins. we also had a little bit of a LOVE theme that was on the ice sculpture, mugs that were the ladies gifts at the end of the night and in the ladies bathroom.
We had an eye chart on our picture table that represented what Dave does for a living. The men's gift at the end of the night was a small bottle of Amarula which is a sweet South African after dinner drink. There was a cigar bar with Ashton cigar's. Our special drink came from our favorite speak easy in Philadelphia Dave and I always went to. We named it the Jetty since that is where he proposed to me in Avalon.
Some of my highlighted moments was when the doors to the church opened and I saw Dave for the first time. The time i got to spend at my parent's house with my bridesmaids getting ready before the wedding. Also reading Dave's letter on my bed at my parent's house. Our first dance and seeing all our friends and family on the dance floor together having an amazing time. The speeches were also very special to me since everyone talked about Dave and I before we knew each other and then talked about us when we were together. It was great to hear new stories and old ones.
